North Korea is irate at its neighbor to the south for its decision to allow Christians to erect a 30-foot Christmas tree roughly two miles form the border, saying it will escalate confrontation and cause a war.
The KCNA news agency, North Koreas state-run media apparatus, described the Christmas tree as an intolerable insult and an act of despicable psychological warfare by South Korea that will fan up the confrontation with the fellow countrymen in the north and bring a war disaster.

There are no “religious bodies” in North Korea, there are a few potemkin churches set up as propaganda and whoa to any North Korean who actually tries to take that seriously

The headline is too dramatic. I was expecting to read about how the tree was blown into splinters.

Years ago when I was stationed in West Berlin the East German border guards used to set up a Christmas Tree just inside East Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie.

“I would put 1000 Xmas trees there if indeed it offends the sensitive N. Koreans so much.”
Naw, put up a neon sign of the Grinch, let’s say about 500 feet high. I wonder what meaning the Norks would read into that?
