PORTLAND, Ore. The ride-sharing app Uber launched in Portland Friday night without the city's approval.
Uber's regional manager Brooke Stever said the app began working at 5 p.m. and drivers were able to immediately begin offering rides.

What I want to know is how Uber can be sure the ride I agree to give doesn’t pay me with a bullet or a throat slash instead of money? Sounds like the operation is perfect for freeloaders who resort to violence.

I agree - especially these days. It requires a certain amount of gullible trust. Like Craig’s List. I wouldn’t go there.
Driver: “I’m driving these people for free, so it’s not a taxi service. If the riders should happen to tip me for my trouble, however i would not refuse it. That would be just plain rude.”

Also, this is ride share, I thought the utopians were all for Ride sharing?
Sort of like the regular taxi service, or Pizza delivery guy.

I will never use Uber.
This is one of my favorite shows although my wife thinks it is so outlandish and over-the-top she gets disgusted with some of the skits when it is on.
It is a perfect compilation of the effete, shallow, vacuous Liberal mind-set. It is where the country is headed unless we get a handle on the crazies who infest our culture.
But in the end, it will not be the crazy Liberals who succeed in their complete failure but the Chinese or Muslims who will march in, take over, and slaughter or enslave us because of our own foolishness.
Portlandia. I just started watching it out on the Netflix. Crazy stuff.
