A Phoenix police officer shot to death an unarmed black man during a struggle and authorities said the officer believed the individual had a gun, in the latest fatal incident amid national turmoil over the policing of black communities.

The Phoenix Police Department said Rumain Brisbon, 34, was sitting in a black Cadillac SUV outside a convenience store on Tuesday evening, and that two witnesses told the officer the occupants of the vehicle were selling drugs.

With police forces across the country under increased scrutiny over killings of unarmed black men, Phoenix police said in a statement that its officer called for backup, and then saw Brisbon appear to remove something from the car's back seat

Of course if he was already on parole or probation being violated could mean a lot more time than those simple penalties.

He has some burglary convictions, other drug dealing convictions, DUI's, driving on suspend license, etc. Has broken probation several times.

Another conviction could have gotten him a whole week in the slammer.

Irresponsible journalists writing articles on this now, stating that the deceased had a criminal record from 1998, but leaving out the six cases since 2011.

What I am ranting against the Media is irresponsible and agenda driven biased reporting to get people riled up and the media can be part of the story (as in the non-vetting of Barack).

A man is dead, I’m not ignoring that, but this agitating by the media and race-baitors is mob rule.

This is a Public Service Bulletin for black people - to avoid being shot, follow these common-sense rules when you are approached by the po-po. It may be your natural right to rob a liquor store or burn down the neighborhood, but the po-po could have a different interpretation.

1) Be respectful. Do as you are instructed by the po-po
2) Don’t make sudden, irregular moves that might be appear as reaching for a gun
3) Keep your hands in sight
4) Don’t run from the po-po
5) Don’t struggle with the po-po
6) Don’t curse the po-po or argue with them
7) Don’t give them “The Look”, AKA the “you die, white devil MF”

These simple rules should equalize your survival rate with other ethic groups including whites.

I will always contend that you OBEY any command from the officer. If they tell you to get on the ground, get on the ground, etc.

Virtually, every minority shooting has happened because the victim has resisted arrest or decided to ignore the cop.

I treat every policeman with respect. They are armed!

The minute the guy started fighting with the cop... THE COPS LIFE WAS IN DANGER!

dont believe me? get a holster and put a gun in it... then try to wrestle me to the ground and pin me while I try to get the gun out of your holster and shoot you with it and lets see who wins.

If I win your dead, even though I am “not armed”.

See how that works?

The second someone engages in a physical confrontation with a cop.. THEY ARE POTENTIAL ARMED with the cops own weapon! (and MANY cops have been shot with their own weapon is such situations)

Why is deadly force the first option for cops to use?

It wasn't. Did you even read the story? He ran, the cop chased him and tried to subdue him. He fought back, and the cop felt something hard in the pocket during the fight that he thought was a weapon. Anytime someone fights a cop, it's always a possibility they could pull a weapon or grab the cop's gun. Plus it's entirely possible to kill someone without a weapon, especially if the guy is big and pumped. The cop had every reason to think his life was in danger and defend himself.

“The officer gave the suspect several commands to get on the ground but he refused to comply, yelling profanities at the officer,” said the police statement issued on Wednesday.”

Either these scum are hard of hearing or dumb as he** or slow learners. Take your pick.

And I do not deny that the guy the cop killed did not break the law by trying to avoid arrest. Nor am I saying that he was a good person wrongfully accused. What I do find disturbing is the fact that more and more frequently police are resorting to deadly force as a first resort and not a last resort. They're shooting without evidence that their life is in danger or the life and safety of bystanders. They are blowing away 12 year old boys in Ohio, unarmed men in stairwells in New York, teenagers who are holding nothing more threatening than a Wii controller. And they're walking away with it, without any consequences for their actions. I don't think that is right.

so you deny that a cop can have his gun taken from him and used on him?

Would you like me to link you stories of just such a thing happening?

Well, the parents of the kid with the BB gun will be living off the proceeds of a nice case against the police.

We are seeing too many rookie police moves.

The police shoot to kill, not wound.

Never challenge a policeman. Do what he says.. And sue later if need be.

The sick media narrative is “UNARMED”.....BULL$*T!

Black man mouths off at officer, black man runs, black man starts getting into a physical confrontation with said officer....What’s gonna happen?

Dead Black Man.....another one bites the dust!

You have a black culture steeped in rebellion and are angry as hell at everybody no matter what. They will lash out like pitbulls at anybody who dares get in their way or “disrespects” them.

I have ZERO sympathy for this dead dude. The only way this is going to change is if their families FINALLY decide to start acting like civilized human beings and RESPECTING people.

They are a target because of their actions, their attitude, and the actions and attitudes of those in their communities.
They want ‘change’...I’ll quote Michael Jackson—look in the mirror clowns.

"...two witnesses told the officer the occupants of the vehicle were selling drugs."

Will they start shooting all drug dealers? Might be a win situation there.
