A New York City grand jury has declined to indict an NYPD officer in the chokehold case of Eric Garner, the unarmed man who died while being arrested on Staten Island earlier this year.
In opting not to indict, the panel determined there was not probable cause that a crime was committed by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was seen on a widely watched amateur video showing him wrapping his arm around Garner's neck as Garner yelled, "I can't breathe!" during the summer altercation.

With the public not seeing the information that the Grand Juries see, it’s a situation where the system requires the public to trust. But it’s hard for people to trust each other right now, because there are so many people who politicize their reasoning.
I don’t know how we get out of the cycle of distrust. Maybe it’s a necessity for accountability, but we seem to be stuck.,
Then don’t resist arrest. When a cop wants to arrest he will go through great lengths to do it.
As a retired LEO I say the video is damning. You can hear Garner saying, “I can’t breathe”. At that point he was subdued and should have been cuffed and allowed to sit up. Not like he wasn’t surrounded by four officers. Unless there is something else I’m not sure about the Grand Jury’s decision.
One of the most critical parts of evidence in this case is this video...Anyone can watch it.

At various points during the struggle the restraint transitioned between a choke and a hold.
The police are obligated to enforce the tobacco tax law, and when they encounter resistance from the street urchins who aren't collecting tax revenue for the city/state, they have to use force to get them to comply.
No matter how you look at this, a man is dead because he got choked to death by an NYPD cop seeking to prevent him from selling untaxed cigarettes up to and including the use of deadly force.
I have no sympathy for New York City and their draconian law enforcement. I choose to remain safely here in Nevada, thousands of miles away from that kind of fellow Americans.
This is hardly different than a New Jersey SWAT team killing a man they considered 'armed and dangerous' because he possessed illegal 'hollow-point dum dum bullets' of 'high capacity magazines' which are illegal in New Jersey and very few other places in America.
Though a tragedy, this is an occasion to sit back and watch the do-gooder liberals to stew in their own juices. If it ends up costing NYC more money in damages than they'd ever have collected in cigarette taxes, it would be ironic if we cannot call it 'justice'.

What’s interesting is it’s a city run 100% by liberals, FAR left liberals to the point where the Mayor is a hardcore blatant commie. So it will be interesting to see how liberals deal with this being that there are no Republicans around to blame lol lol lol Come on you libs, incite the riot! What I see is the cops using excessive force over very little resisting arrest. The bits and pieces of the coroner’s report are all over the place. Either way, imo it seems the cops’ over reaction contributed more to his death than his physical health or jerking his arm in resistance. Seeing the entire autopsy would make it clearer.
That said, there shouldn’t be any question who was at fault with St. Skittles and St. Michael.
No it shouldn't. But he wasn't given the death penalty, and he didn't die for selling untaxed cigarettes. He died as a victim of circumstance when he resisted attempts by officers to perform a legal arrest. What you're saying is tantamount to the opinion of some Mike Brown supporters who say that the Gentle Giant was murdered for walking down the middle of the street.
If you happen to think a law is stupid, unjust, or unfairly applied, the time to fight it is not when the authorities are in the process of arresting you.
What appears on the outside may not be what killed him on the inside though. If the accusation is that the hold killed the guy, then the forensics should show HOW it killed him.
That’s not to say that the use of the hold in the first place is lawful; that’s another issue. But if the charge being considered is murder/manslaughter, then there should be some evidence that the hold did something that actually led to the death of the person.
Of course, if the autopsy concluded that it was homicide - death caused by the actions of another person - then apparently the coroner believed that there was evidence that the cop’s actions contributed to this man’s death. If we were on the Grand Jury we would have seen that evidence. As it is, we don’t know. If the evidence is released then we can evaluate whether the failure to indict was appropriate.
What stands out to me is that we don’t trust anybody. Which is a reasonable response to the corruption around us, but it makes it difficult for things to function. What the politicians should see is that where there is no means of accountability we will always have corruption and that breeds distrust. This is the bed that the politicians made when they let all the corruption go unchecked. That’s not to say that the rioters are justified - absolutely not. But when the means for lawful rule and accountability are lost, it’s like a pressure cooker with the heat turned up and no pressure release valve; they are playing with fire and when they see the condition of the society right now they should be realizing what they, in part, have wrought.1

And his neck was huge. You couldn't have choked him with a garrote, much less your hands or arms.
Did you see the video? Strangulation is not a medical term. What words did the autopsy really use?
This is getting worse than the Salem witch trials.
Unlike in Ferguson This cop is getting away with murder.
Look, you can dance around this all ya want. Fact is this man would very likely be alive today if not for the fact he was overwhelmingly physically attacked over such a minor infraction.
The message is clear. Obey or else.
Cardiac arrest , obesity, and severe asthma of course played no role in his death.... Like every other meme the mom has put out you bought it hook ins and sinker
