Chris Rock explained in a lengthy interview Sunday that he believes part of healing racial relations in America is by white people owning the actions of their ancestors.
The black comedian told New York magazines Frank Rich that racial progress in America is nonsense and that the only thing thats changed is white people arent as crazy as they used to be.

Dear Chris, some of my ancestors owned slaves. That was before my time and thus beyond my control, so I have nothing to own up to. In retrospect, they should have picked their own damned cotton.
People are victims only if they want to be.
Splitters!
sold their own people LIKE.
I cannot think of another race or group of people that sold their own people. For that they should feel great shame.
Additionally, no one was more brutal to blacks than arabs but that doesn’t slow them in converting to islam. Black muslims will say (usually in prisons) Christianity is a white man’s religion. They’ve got things so backwards and truth is truth if they like it or not.
My ancestors fought to free your ancestors, Mr. Rock. I’ll gladly own that.
But what really needs to happen is you and your contemporaries need to forgive the slave owners and then stop using the past as an excuse for your racial hatred. Any black preacher who isn’t preaching forgiveness to his congregation will find himself facing God’s wrath. Jesus said we must forgive our brothers everything, seventy times seven, meaning without limit. As egregious as slavery was, it is not exempt the need to forgive.
My ancestors were to busy working a homestead and just trying to survive, let alone messing with Chris Rocks coveted Negro Bloods! Not every one in the South had a Plantation! My family was always poor until the late 60’s where jobs became a prospect.
My Uncles cut trees for cross ties for Railroad and staves for heat! Survived, an old milk cow, some chickens, and a 100 # sack of flour and a 55 gal of Sorghum molasses to make biscuits and whatever you could kill in the Winter! In My aunts life story she says “You hit your Sunday clothes on the rock once and your work clothes three times to wash them at the River! White Privilege what the hell is that???
Well, it happened a lot in the bible.
Hey Chris , I totally own the actions of my ancestors and I can’t wait to fight under their flag again
DV
My ancestors were hired to do dangerous jobs so that slaves weren’t injured or killed.
My great-great-great-grandfather guarded a slave bureau in Louisiana after the Civil War.
My ancestors arrived from Deutschland in 1895, thirty years after the Civil War ended. Even so, I shouldn’t have to take responsibility for something that happened 150 years ago, nor does anyone else. Chris Rock can go do any number of acronyms to himself (like FOAD, etc.).
I'm all paid off.
It looks like people may finally be fed up with this pathetic, self-serving, `African-American’ race-baiting BS.
Especially when this stuff is from multi- millionaire entertainers trying to “keep it real” by pretending to be `hood rats.
“Own it.”
Chris Rock, Jamie Fox, Danny Glover—all of the calculated outrage by black performers, ad infinitum: you can all line up and kiss the only part of my a** that isn’t white.
It was the attitude that if you kept pushing on you would succeed at something good, that proved out in their lives.
And behind that concept was a concept of God. You might have a hardscrabble life for a while but God would never go away.
Now try to replace that God with a deity that has nothing better to do than to damn those who refused to commit cultural suicide.
Seems like a good place to remember this:
330,000 WHITE UNION military knowingly went to their deaths to free the African American slaves during the Civil War, they FOLLOWED the directives and emancipation orders of their government, a government THEY ELECTED. I have never heard an establishment, professional, progressive/ African-American, or White Progressive ever ACKNOWLEDGE, much less “thank” these dead men for their sacrifices, nor recognize the 260,000 White Union military who were wounded and/or grievously disabled, nor the widows, nor the children, nor the families of the military who also suffered.
And that is why that fella trix Obama chose not to go to Gettysburg in July 2013 to note the sacrifices of just one place the men who died and were wounded there TO FREE the Africans enslaved in the USA.
“white people hung together in mistreating black people because of color”
My great great grandpa said, “a man oughta do his own work.” Slavery was a totally foreign concept.
The poor blacks in our area lived in a Gist settlement, you can wiki it, Gist [not sure anymore of the spelling but I am sure you can find it] donated lands in several places so that former slaves etc. would have land of their own to be able to reach the American dream. They were still in poverty when I was growing up, but no, the white people in the area were not mistreating them because of color. My Dad would hire some of them for farm help, treat them like real men and equal to himself, lend them money, as he would also to some down on their luck whites. My Mom called all of them bums, taking food from his own eight kids’ mouths. Yes, some of them stole from us; and I do regret that the family lost some heirlooms to such thefts from an honest man who was only trying to help them. Dad gave them all a chance and the benefit of the doubt. And despite Mom’s legitimate worries (after all she had to pay the bills and balance the check book) we didn’t suffer. Except for the loss of irreplaceable family and historic heirlooms. We wore hand-me-down clothes, ate from the garden and chicken house, but honestly I never thought of myself as poor growing up. Dad is in Heaven in some part because he gave them the benefit of the doubt (in addition to the fact that he was a hard worker, taught his children to be the same, loved til it hurt, etc.) Actually black Tom Turner praised Dad’s farming methods; it was probably the “white trash” that stole our family things.
Keep it real(-ly hellbound).
How can such hate prosper? It can’t. It runs itself into the ground.
I’ll bet that translates into reparations.
Mine also - and from Norway.
You too?
