My ancestors were to busy working a homestead and just trying to survive, let alone messing with Chris Rocks coveted Negro Bloods! Not every one in the South had a Plantation! My family was always poor until the late 60’s where jobs became a prospect.
My Uncles cut trees for cross ties for Railroad and staves for heat! Survived, an old milk cow, some chickens, and a 100 # sack of flour and a 55 gal of Sorghum molasses to make biscuits and whatever you could kill in the Winter! In My aunts life story she says “You hit your Sunday clothes on the rock once and your work clothes three times to wash them at the River! White Privilege what the hell is that???

It was the attitude that if you kept pushing on you would succeed at something good, that proved out in their lives.

And behind that concept was a concept of God. You might have a hardscrabble life for a while but God would never go away.

Now try to replace that God with a deity that has nothing better to do than to damn those who refused to commit cultural suicide.
