As demonstrations and riots continue in Ferguson, an armed militia-esque group has appeared on rooftop patrols, pledging to protect private property. But given their anti-government rhetoric, the Oath Keepers' presence could inflame tensions further.
The Oath Keepers are back and patrolling the rooftops of Fergusonor at least they were until being asked to stand down by the St. Louis County Police Department. Its the latest bid for relevance by the militia-esque organizationlargely comprised of government veterans who promise to stand armed alongside citizens against the U.S. governmentwhich sprung up amid the rhetoric of resistance in the early days of the Obama administration.
Even with vigilante overtones, trying to secure private property against looters is arguably the most honorable incarnation of The Oath Keepers. While the St. Louis Post-Dispatch described the group as mysterious, the Oath Keepers have been hiding in plain site since launched by a former Ron Paul aide named Stewart Rhodes, warning of a tyrannical government months after President Obama took the oath of office. What follows is some of my initial reporting on the rise of the group, published in Wingnuts.
You need to be alert and aware of how close we are to having our constitutional republic destroyed!(continued)

The oath keepers want law enforcement to keep their oaths to uphold the constitution....gasp the horror.....
I guess the daily beast morons love getting their property searched without a warrant, not getting a defense attorney, and being declared guilty with no trial.
Bunch of idiot putzes.... the daily “mark of the” beast is more apt.
Nasty, nasty, nasty freedom-lovers!
Freedom is slavery! War is peace! Four legs good!

God Bless the Oathkeepers.
I’m not sure anyone caught it, but the author of the article is queer as a three dollar bill and uses his bully pulpet to confuse the issues, as he is piggy backing (no pun intended) his lgbt life and Oath Keepers politics in an attempt at educating Christian Republcan’s on “how to win friends and influence people”. I had to read and reread the I’m married to a man, knowing the author was one, before things sank in.
...and he falls into the Rich and selfish Republican’s trap the low information leftists love to beat us with, when in reality Republican’s in general give far more to charities than the other side ever thought of giving.
LOL! I like it
asked to stand down by the St. Louis County Police Department
Since they were only asked and not told to stand down they should have politely declined.
Libtard media coverage of a group that is doing good and clearly states its defense of the Constitution.... isn’t that part of the oath obama violates daily?
In addition this group was at the Bundy ranch and faced down the armed BLM... Why? becuase according to the Constitution the local sheriff is the LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORIZED BY THE CONSTITUTION.... not some illegally armed govenment bureau..
Look into the web site... inform yourself and dont rely on other’s views.
Agreed. They don’t “walk the walk” but sure do spew a lot of BS.
nothing misterous about honorable men who simply take the oath they swore to seriously.
to be frank any - government offical who is not a member auit to be fired.
Some of the stores have apartments above them. When Molotov cocktails were thrown onto the roof, they put out the fire with the fire extinguisher and dumped a bucket of water on the area to cool it off.
Deadly force can only be used to protect life, but this includes arson, if the building has people in it that could be harmed or killed.
The business owners welcomed them. There is no legal justification for ordering someone off private property when they have the owner's permission. Claim that they need a license is bogus too. They are not being paid. They helped the businesses board up, and are keeping watch at night.
Someone did come up to them and called them the KKK. The person they were accused was a Native American/Filipino. He took off his ski mask and said really do I look like someone the KKK would let into their midst?
Kinda seems like the police might have had some complaints from a certain segment of the community, but it wasn't the business owners, who want them to stay.
Does anyone know how the Oath Keepers are viewed with regards to “seditious groups” in the context of security clearances?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your post
Good to know they’re still there
I hope they stay safe and grow exponentially
It would be nuts to deny someone a clearance on the account that they actually intend to keep their oath.
Only the loony and corrupt left see the oath keepers as anything in the way of a threat.
Of course The left will go after any kind of conservative so any conservative group membership might be a liability.
You are welcome. I hope so too.
Oh, I agree that it should be construed as nuts.
However, as you pointed out, the loons and corrupt view Oathkeepers as a threat...many of those are in government.
The same government that adjudicates security clearances...
Information provided by B4Ranch indicates an error on my part that cast a very bad light on the Author who is decidedly not queer, as portrayed by me.
