ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Sunday that equating Islam with violence was wrong and called on Muslim leaders to issue a global condemnation of terrorism to help dispel the stereotype.
Francis, the leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, told reporters aboard his plane returning from a visit to Turkey that he understood why Muslims were offended by many in the West who automatically equated their religion with terrorism.
Francis' predecessor, Benedict XVI, caused storms of protest throughout the Islamic world in 2006, when he made a speech that suggested to many Muslims that he believed Islam espoused violence. ...
they murder out of love, don’tya know.
If any Catholics here want to take offense, that's tough.
As a Catholic, I find this Pope an embarrassment to the Church. He can't leave soon enough for me.
oh wait,....it’s not.
Good job. My sentiments exactly.
This Pope is really odd....
Has the Pope no history books? Does he not know the history of his own office?
Islam is is a belief system founded by a desert bandit. The Koran calls upon all Muslims to use force to convert non-muslims, to enslave non-muslims, and to establish a world theocracy where all non- muslims are treated as third class citizens.
Before Mohammad, there were Jewish, Christian and animist Arab tribes in Saudi Arabia. Mohammad converted, massacred or enslaved all of them.
Before there was a crusade, there was Jihad. Jihad forcibly converted, massacred or enslaved all Christian and pagan people in North Africa, Egypt, Anatolia and the Middle East.
Ditto the Zorastrians in Iran. They murdered millions of Hindus in India under the Moguls. This CONTINUES today with Sikhs as an additional target.
They invaded, massacred and enslaved their way through the Balkans, Iberia, Greece, southern Italy and Sicily and southern Russia.
Every geographical area currently under Islam or formerly under its sway, bears the social and cultural scars of that occupation.
These activities were NOT the actions of abberant leadership. They were and are the products of an evil and morally bankrupt social and “religious” system.
The Pope must have studied Islam under Obama Hussein.
This is when real Christians shun the organized church.
Jesus never lied to his enemies about the nature of their false beliefs. That’s not to say the Pope is intentionally lying, but he is wrong. Islam is a religious concoction that uses terror and violence to control its victims. Christians should not allow the weak-mindedness of multiculturalism to destroy them and Western civilization.
Try the past 1,400 years.
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
No religion established by a pedophile should be accepted by Christians. Some Muslims are moderate in spite of their religion, but most are followers of a violent evil man. How can the Pope justify respecting a religion that mostly treats women and children as cattle.
Violence is only part of Islam. They also have misogyny for example.
Violence is only part of Islam. They also have misogyny for example.
Sadly, I concur.
The Pope is wrong about that.
islam is a totalitarian death cult founded by a child rapist.
So, islam is not violence itself. islam does, however, condone violence, and more of its adherents are violent than other religions.
It is obvious that this pope is Petrus Romanus, the False Prophet who will introduce the Beast to the world.
Well, the last time a Pope made elliptical reference to the evil of Islam, we saw what happened. Easy for us to talk. Just ask the Christians living in the ME. Pope Francis said nothing different than what Bush (”religion of peace’) said and what British PM Cameron has said as has our current community organizer in the WH.
The Koran kissing disgusted me.
What will the martyrs who died professing faith in Jesus Christ think of this pope?
More important ,what will God think?
