ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Sunday that equating Islam with violence was wrong and called on Muslim leaders to issue a global condemnation of terrorism to help dispel the stereotype.
Francis, the leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, told reporters aboard his plane returning from a visit to Turkey that he understood why Muslims were offended by many in the West who automatically equated their religion with terrorism.

I think this pope is trying to balance political correctness with the Christian faith. The two do not blend. Appeasement never works.
However, what has transpired over the past 6 years removes ALL DOUBT as to what Islam stands for. The Pope has had 6 years of atrocities from which to make this ridiculous statement.
It is as ridiculous as what Bush, Cameron, and other EU leaders have said. The last time BXVI made an elliptical reference to Islam as a violent religion riots broke out, churches were ransacked, including the murder of a Catholic nun.
