Burn this b**** down.
Some believe those words, shouted by Louis Head, stepfather to the late Michael Brown of Ferguson, Missouri, are what touched-off three days of rioting, violence, and untold property damage across the U.S. and elsewhere.
Head was captured on video with Brown's mother Leslie McSpadden, after a grand jury determined that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson did not commit a crime when he shot and killed Brown in a confrontation last summer. The grand jury did determine that contrary to "eye witness accounts" Michael Brown had attempted to enter Wilson's police vehicle and take the officer's weapon, that Wilson believed his life was being threatened, and that firing at Brown was justified.
In response to the news that Officer Wilson would not be indicted, Head encouraged other residents of Ferguson to destroy as much private and public property as possible, and thus "burn down" the city.
The illogic of Head and the other "protesters" is astounding. It seems to assume that destroying other people's property will satiate one's desire for "justice," or what may more accurately be described as a quest for "vengeance." It presumes that the city will be better now that many residents have lost their jobs, investments, labor-hours and other resources.
Yet the destruction of the city's infrastructure indeed has made matters worse. In fact, the destruction of one particular business provides a symbolic reminder that no good deed goes un-punished.
Long before the Ferguson grand jury was formed - back last summer, shortly after Michael Brown's death - a particular convenience store was burned-down in Ferguson, a store owned and operated by a company called the QuikTrip Corporation.
Not every American knows the name QuikTrip. Yet the privately held, Tulsa, Oklahoma-based QuikTrip Corporation has for years been consistently rated as one of the top 100 employers to work for in the USA, and one of the worlds most socially responsible companies.
QuikTrip stores are usually larger, more fully staffed, and kept cleaner than other covenience stores. QuikTrip guarantees that the gasoline they sell will not damage a car's engine, while General Motors, BMW, Toyota and Honda have all certified QuikTrip as a retailer of "top tier" fuel.
And while the tragic death of Michael Brown shines a painful but necessary spotlight on the plight of inner-city youth, it is important to note that since 1991, QuikTrip has voluntarily designated its stores to be what are known as youth Safe Place zones, in partnership with the national non-profit "Safe Place movement". Troubled youths and runaways can enter a QuikTrip store and announce that they are in trouble, and QuickTrip will provide them with food, shelter, and assist them with contacting local rescue authorities, all at no cost to the youths themselves.
Ferguson's QuikTrip store is only one example of the senseless destruction of private enterprise, but it serves as a powerful example. If an entire community - indeed an entire nation - isn't taught to observe and appreciate the contributions of entreprenuers and business owners, their disappearance is inevitable.
These thugs didn’t care — they just wanted free stuff and to do destruction for its own sake.
Good luck shopping and buying food in your own neighborhoods, fools!
Detroit never came back after the 1967 episode, that all started over the cops closing down a unlicensed liquor establishment.
After you consider all of the lawsuits that will occur in Ferguson, the city establishment is bankrupt, and the various taxes and fees coming down the pike will close down the remainder of those who survived to this point.
I’ve never understood how burning down your own city and the businesses and jobs that go along with it, correct a social injustice.
What they did in Ferguson sounds more like social suicide than a call for help. Once something is destroyed, replacing it is not easy.
A society that does not respect the value of what it has, has no future. Just look at the urban wastelands around America that have never recovered in the wake of devastating riots.
Black America in its rage its harming itself far more than White America could ever possibly harm it.

I'd take it to the next step and state that he's financially liable for the destruction that took place.
What do you expect from these morons who have a brain the size a pea. Not much goes in there
Michael Brown, his mother McSpadden, and her gangster boyfriend are nothing more than garden variety lowlifes. They are typical blacks theses days, and it does not speak well of blacks in general. At some point these vermin are going to have to be dealt with.
DITTOS! ! !
I agree.
Maybe, just maybe they will destroy themselves. . .
Eminent domain for the progressive’s peeps.
I agree with you 100%
This is about far more than Michael Brown or Shopping. These people have an agenda that matches Obama’s private wish list and then some. Go find some of the streams they produce. They are the best horror movies you will see this year.
I am sickened to watch the cops night after night stand there and take their prodding and provoking, hoping to create an incident, for their own purposes of course, chief among them right now, trying to prove police brutality, even where none exists.
his “tragic” death, LOL, the gentle giant needed killing for years.
“Detroit never came back after the 1967 episode, that all started over the cops closing down a unlicensed liquor establishment.”
Ferguson won’t come back either. It’s amazing at the rapid rate of white flight from Ferguson. Look at census statistics and you will see that it’s population has transitioned from majority white to majority black (almost 80%) in less than thirty years. The few whites remaining will soon relocate if they can.
Really? Free enterprise is what Hill thinks died in Ferguson? How about society? Or, common sense? How about civility?
Focusing on the minor damage to a microscopic portion of capitalism is an example of why this country is in trouble. We need to address the sun cultures that are slowly eroding the foundations of this society.
“””The question remains what to do with the 90% of blacks who are little more than savages.””””
Margaret Sanger tried.
And that's after it swelled up overnight.
