Johnny Cash - Thanksgiving Prayer
We've come to the time in the season When family and friends gather near To offer a prayer of Thanksgiving For blessings we've known through the year To join hands and thank the creator And now when Thanksgiving is due This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
I'm grateful for the laughter of children The sun and the wind and the rain The color of blue in your sweet eyes The sight of a high ball and train The moon rise over a prairie Old love that you've made new This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
And when the time comes to be going It won't be in sorrow and tear I'll kiss you goodbye and I'll go on my way Grateful for all of the years I thank for all that you gave me For teaching me what love can do Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Thanksgiving Song
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table. From far and near we travel home, Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place With light in every window, Saying "welcome, welcome, share this feast Come in away from sorrow."
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend and friendless; All together everyone in the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for what's understood, And all that is forgiven; We try so hard to be good, To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend, and friendless; All together everyone, let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table.

Thank you very much, LUV - I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.
We had our feast this evening at my sister's - it went very well. We had family and a couple of friends - all the food was excellent and the conversation - and a few songs - were memorable.
We gave thanks - life in America is good!

This is the Arabic character "nun" the first letter of the word "Nazarene." I post it as my avatar in solidarity with people of all faiths suffering persecution at the hands of Islam. Many of them are members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, dating from the days of the Apostles. They endure cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors they, and we, are all "Nazarenes." |

Thanks for the Memory--Charlie & His Orchestra
Thanks for the memory
In every German's mind
When you broke the ties that bind
And dictated a pact called the Treaty of Versailles.
How rotten that was! Thanks for the memory
Of British aims divine,
French Negroes on the Rhine,
The food blockade and misery
All over the German Reich.
What an injustice that was!
Many iare the times that you feasted,
And many are the times that we fasted.
For you, it was swell while it lasted.
You did have fun, but harm was done.
Well, thanks for the memory.
It gives us strength to fight
For freedom and for right.
It might give you a headache, England,
And hurt you so much.

"Remember When" a great song, now that my kids are all grown it's even a stronger reminder of how short life is, and to appreciate all God gives us.
BTW...
How' bout them Seahawks!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Kathy!
*HUGS*
We had a mere dozen thankful family and friends present and a 25 pound turkey, along with all the usual accouterments. We didn't even make it into the second side of the turkey. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, green beans Amandine, etc.
Before dinner, a tray of cheeses - Gorgonzola, Brie, Port Salut, and another whose name I've forgotten, dates, figs and and grapes. We warmed up with a Glenmorangie "Nectar D'Or."
Veuve Cliquot Brut with dinner, along with Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel and Oak Ridge Old Vine Petite Sirah.
After dinner, Pumpkin, pecan and cherry pies. A round of Godiva Dark Chocolate Truffles. Then a shot of King's Ginger, a liqueur my BIL found on a recent trip to the UK, a Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port, and finally a few drams of Lagavulin 16 year old Single Malt Islay Scotch.
By the end of the evening I was reciting Middle English poetry and singing old Celtic airs.
But now I must gather my remaining strength to climb the spiral staircase to Boudoir MacNessa.
Good night, God Bless you, and God Bless the United States of America!
