When the revolution comes, everything will be free! Mika Brzezinski gave us today some good insight into the liberal mind when it comes to economics. The Morning Joe host was reacting today to news that for Thanksgiving, Verizon will be giving travelers free wifi in flight and at several airports around the country. Mocked Mika: "thank you so much for something you shouldn't be charging us for anyway."

Capitalism and socialism are different political, economic, and social systems in use by countries around the world. The United States is usually considered a capitalist country while Sweden is usually considered a socialist country. Sweden is not socialist, however, in the true sense of the word. A more extreme form of socialism is communism. An example of a communist country is Cuba. In truth, many countries have mixed economies. They have economic elements of both capitalism and socialism.
Only a perpetually aggrieved Liberal, but I repeat myself, could complain about a free gift.

I think dear, precious Mika thinks that WIFI on an airplane is like getting tap water in a diner. They have it anyway, so why NOT share.
Getting WIFI to work reliably, and with enough throughput to satisfy half a plane of travellers streaming Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and the occasional WebEx meeting is NOT an inexpensive undertaking. You cannot just plug in a MIFI box and a Netgear wireless box and be done.
On the airplanes I don’t have a problem with there being a service charge.
In the airport (which can be publicly built) may be a different breed of animal.
Additionally, I didn’t like the United gave 1 hour free (not cumulative but clocked from initial login) with $8 or so for a day’s use. Well typically you will only wait at a gate for an hour. I got stuck waiting 8+ hours in good clear weather and kept getting 1 hour and 2 hour delay notices. If they’d been upfront about the TRUE delay I would’ve opted for the service. So I never got to use my computer in the remaining 7 hours (nor did I use more than 15 minutes total). Making the gates free is at least a small comfort for the passengers on delayed flights.
Oh, I suspect Mika’s been giving it away for free for years.
Even if terminals are publicly built, why should valuable products or services be given away? No one would expect free food service in terminals—why should internet be any different?
I think airlines would be wise to include it in the price of a ticket as a way to differentiate themselves from the competition, just like Southwest not charging for bags (at least for now).
If by ‘revolution’ they mean ‘slavery’, then yes everything could potentially be free for everyone who’s not in the slave class.
And when the line & pole men do not get the pay increases, she and rest of the left-O-crats will demand that the workers "get their fair share".
Just like that free health care; is everyone gonna work for you, for free, like a slave now?
I missed the part where the providers fiscal planners asked the ditz for her advice on the matter.
“Free” just means that it’s included in the ticket price.
Like the wealthy aristocrat remarked during WWII bread rationing in England, “Oh, bread rationing doesn’t affect us. We always have toast.”
Last time I used WiFi at BWI Airport some idiot got my American Express card info and charged $27,000 dollars to my card for freight fees. Fortunately Amex contacted me immediately. Never again!
