Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) proposed a plan to stop President Obamas administrative amnesty, the first step of which can only be taken by incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.).
Step number one that I have called for is the incoming majority leader should announce that if the president implements this lawless amnesty, that the Senate will not confirm any executive or judicial nominees, other than vital national security positions, for the next two years, unless and until the president ends this lawless amnesty, Cruz told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. If the majority leader would announce that, it would impose real consequences on the president and the administration.
Cruz didnt say if he regards the attorney general as a vital national security position, leaving open the question of whether he wants the GOP to block confirmation of Loretta Lynch, Obamas nominee to replace Attorney General Eric Holder.
The second constitutional power weve got is the power of the purse, Cruz continued. And we should fund, one at a time, the critical priorities of the federal government, but also use the power of the purse to attach riders.

True, and just think - before the internet and talk radio and cable, etc, someone like Cruz could not be a major player with so little seniority. However, with his bully pulpit of sorts, he can impact the trajectory of big issues.
A man for these times.
I agree-—and btw, you’re only the 2nd best in TX—I would put Mr. Cruz as the best—LOL!
Cruz may propose but unless he’s able to get a following large enough thats all it will be...proposals. I must agree though that the current GOP ‘leadership’ is weak at the best of times.
The Uniparty system in Washington right now won’t do that, so what will conservatives do.
In the UK, they join with working class Labour Party voters to support UKIP, a new party opposing the invasion of foreign workers....
Amen, amen, amen!
And where are the other potential 2016 candidates on this matter? Nowhere.
Now just watch the GOPe and their milquetoast candidates try to sabotage and backstab Ted.
We are behind you Mr. President! Give it all you have got!
I’d still like to see Obama in prison for his crimes against America.
I will be voting for Cruz for POTUS in 2016.
Traditional Values Folk have to play by the “Marquis de Queensbury Rules.”
Too many “White People” on the our side. “People of Color” don't have any POWER!
It's the “Fairness” thingy.
2016 is so easy. As far as I am concerned there is no other candidate but Ted Cruz. No one else even comes close. The GOP is super lucky to have him.
I think Cruz has a good plan. Add to that a formal censure of Obama by the incoming Senate in January and it works for me. All this lawsuit stuff and impeachment talk is not going to work.
... to honor or commitment....

I assume “or” is really “our”.
Yet, wasn’t the Turtle re-selected (unanimously) as leader just recently??
Where was the outcry, etc. then? And, if being behind closed doors it was ‘fraudulent’, why no outcry since?
Sorry, but as with all things in D.C., until a bill is written/acted upon, it’s all bovine blathering
I hope he stays in the Senate. I think he could do so much more moving up in seniority and eventually becoming majority leader. It will take a few elections to get him there, but I think he could do so much more staying put rather than running for POTUS. We need a Governor to be our next presidential candidate. First pick, go Walker!!
But wait until the middle of 2016 when he starts winning Primaries and appears unstoppable.
They will treat him like Goldwater and he needs to be ready for it.
