NEW YORK Sen. Ted Cruz is in a crowded ballroom full of Zionists this Sunday evening, headlining an annual Zionist Organization of America dinner.
Standing with Israel and strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance is critical for our nation and has been a key priority from the very first day I arrived in the US Senate, he said at a VIP reception beforehand.
The threats to Israel right now have never been greater, and now is a time when we do not need leaders who simply speak empty words of support for Israel, he said in a well-received speech. We need leaders who will stand and act. Now, more than ever, is a time to strengthen the unshakable alliance and friendship America has with the nation of Israel.
Cruz was introduced by an old friend and law professor, Alan Dershowitz. Cruz, as conservative as Dershowitz is liberal, was one of his star pupils at Harvard Law School.
Dershowitz called him a man of principle, a man of high intelligence, a man of determination, and one of Israels strongest supporters in the United States Senate.
Beforehand, he explained their friendship.
The American way is to cross over the aisle and try to accommodate, the professor said. I like Ted very much as a person. I liked him very much as an intellect, as a student. His views on Israel. We agree to disagree on a range of issues.
His participation, he said, was a way to show solidarity in the pro-Israel community, regardless of domestic political differences....

Lots of love in that article./sarc
The Dallas paper is left-wing.
Ouch.
The libs do not know what to do with Sen Cruz.
I know what we need to do with Senator Cruz....elect him president in 2016!
They tried to destroy Sarah Palin and instead made her more influential & powerful than Hillary, Michelle and Angela Merkel, combined. Now comes along an even younger part-Latino genius with the same type of convictions. What to do, what to do?
This from the Philadelphia Inquirer:
"There was also the Harvard Law student who couldn't get into a Dershowitz class despite multiple attempts: Barack Obama.
"'Twice because the computer kept him out,' Dershowitz said. 'It wasn't my fault.'"
Too bad the computer couldn't keep Barry out of the White House.
Translation: Dershowitz got word of a lazy, f***-up troublemaker trying to get into his class and black-balled him. Bet on it. The computer? Hahahaha!
Alan Dershowitz is a bit late to the neo con party and can never be trusted by any decent conservative.
I read it, and I don’t see anything worthwhile in it, with all due respect.
I did see a few national socialists in the comments section.
Either that, or the computer was racist.
That’s OK. There is one wacko in the comments section that thinks Dershowitz is “no liberal” merely because of his spat with über-lefty Norman Finkelstein.
Dershowitz is an honest liberal. They’re rare but they do exist, as this article shows. Decent, intelligent people can disagree on issues without making it personal.
You didn’t see that he’s already conferring with the big dogs from other countries (the Halifax International Security Forum) & here and that people are already paying attention to someone who only has been in the Senate less than two years? He’s nearly the shadow president, not Jeb Bush.
Yes; totally missed that. Sorry about that.
Now I’ve got that old saying bouncing around in my head, “If you want to know a man’s true character, look at the company he keeps.”
I had an honest liberal for a professor in school - undergrad.
Disagreed on just about everything cultural. She was very complementary of my writing and we are still in touch.
She was convinced of her ideas, never angry.

As rare as a hen’s tooth...
Bttt
Only since the islamonazis captured control of the D party central machine has American defense and foreign policy been made this “political” like we feel it to be now. Formerly, both parties tried to work together on these matters in particular American defense and alliances were agreed components of AMERICAN policy, supported generally across political party lines. It was not worthy of comment that a liberal and a conservative agreed on basic defense or foreign policy matters. It was a commonplace and there was criticism from both sides of the aisle if someone tried to politicize these key areas of national concern. Policy differences could come up from time to time, but never to the degree that one political party’s basic loyalty to America, our defenses and allies, and our key values as a nation and people, was abandoned or renounced as it is today.
