President Obama on Thursday defended the actions he's taking to shield about 5 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally from deportation as "lawful" and consistent with what his predecessors have done.
"I continue to believe that the best way to solve this problem is by working together to pass that kind of common sense law," the president said. "But until that happens, there are actions I have the legal authority to take as President - the same kinds of actions taken by Democratic and Republican presidents before me - that will help make our immigration system more fair and more just."
"The actions I'm taking are not only lawful, they're the kinds of actions taken by every single Republican president and every single Democratic president for the past half century," Mr. Obama added.
The actions he outlined will grant a reprieve from deportation to about 5 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally and allow them to apply for a three-year work permit if they can pass a background check, register with the government, submit biometric data, and establish they are eligible for relief.
During the speech, he argued that his actions are shaped by America's character.
"Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our fruit and make our beds never have a chance to get right with the law?" he asked. "Or are we a nation that gives them a chance to make amends, take responsibility, and give their kids a better future?"

He kills the moment. All moments. Of everyone. Everywhere. At all times.
Congress passed laws that he does not currently enforce. To pass more would be pearls before swine. Let him show that he can keep the laws that currently exist first.
We definitely want that Senate passed Immigration Bill gone.

Am I missing something? Obama comes out and officially announces that he is going to refuse to enforce the immigration laws. Isn’t this what he has been doing for the last six years “unofficially”? Heck, isn’t this what both parties have been doing for the last decade “unofficially”? The elites and globalists want no national borders and from a demographic stand point need population growth to sustain their economic system. We the people have to deal with the outcome of those “unofficial” policies. As far as I can tell, Obama is just making it official that the elites are going to do want they want regardless of us serfs on carrying out their globalist agenda.
Enforce the EXISTING laws, you CLOWN.

Well Obama, my response to the way that you challenge Congress above over and over with your "I have one answer: Pass a bill", is my own simple answer:
"Enforce the damn immigration laws already passed. Is that so hard to do? I repeat: Simply ENFORCE the immigration laws already on the books.
Stop picking and choosing---like a king or an emperor would do---the immigration laws you want to enforce and ignoring the immigration laws you don't like.
Again, my simple answer vs. your simple answer: ENFORECE immigration laws already passed, many of which were passed before you were elected president. Does your simple mind understand my simple answer? I hope so.
If Obama believes granting Executive Amnesty is constitutional, then why did he wait six years to do it?
Think of all those poor illegal Hispanic immigrants picking fruit day after day and making all those beds in the dark and dismal shadows when a mere stroke of Obama’s pen could have freed them from such misery years ago — and yet Obama did nothing to help them. What xenophobia on his part, what a lack of human decency.
Is it possible Obama has no intention of writing an EO? Could this just be a “head fake” to get congress to pass an amnesty bill more to the Dems liking?

The House passes bills all the time, and crooked Harry puts them on a shelf. Tell scum bag Harry to bring one of those forward.
Besides which it should be noted that the Congress doesn’t have to pass no stinkin’ bill or do anything else that this ego maniac demands.
It won’t make any difference to the people who pick the fruit etc. As soon as they are legal, they can find another better paying job, and some new illegal will take their place, and we’ll continue to have people who are “not right with the law” pick our fruit etc.
Enforce the existing laws, secure the border and implement a program like Eisenhower did - It was called “operation wetback”.
If Obama wins this fight, Congrees needs to pass a bill that makes all the Illegals SSN”s start with 999 to let employers know they were illegal.
