Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that the Americas were discovered by Muslims in the 12th century, nearly three centuries before Genoese explorer Christopher Columbus claimed the discovery in the name of Spain.
"Contacts between Latin America and Islam date back to the 12th century. Muslims discovered America in 1178, not Christopher Columbus," the president said in a televised speech during an Istanbul summit of Muslim leaders from Latin America.
"Muslim sailors arrived in America from 1178. Columbus mentioned the existence of a mosque on a hill on the Cuban coast," Erdogan said.
Erdogan said that Ankara was even prepared to build a mosque at the site mentioned by the Genoese explorer.
"I would like to talk about it to my Cuban brothers. A mosque would go perfectly on the hill today," the Turkish leader said.
In an article published in 1996, historian Youssef Mroueh refers to a diary entry from Columbus that mentions a mosque “on top of a beautiful mountain” in Cuba. But the diary entry is widely understood as a metaphoric reference to a protuberance on the summit of a mountain that resembles a mosque's dome or minaret.

When the muzzies discovered America in the 1960’s, the first thing they did was plant their butt-ugly mosques to pollute the skyline and then complained about the maltreatment of the religion after which they proceeded to wage war on their host by flying airplanes into their buildings.
America’s answer was to accommodate them and grant the muzzies special privileges and put one of them in the White House.

Actually, modern Turkish is written in the Latin alphabet, just like ours. This was one of the earliest reforms of Kemal Ataturk who discarded the cumbersome Arabic script for the Western alphabet. Literacy among Turks greatly increased.
Ataturk basically hated ANYTHING that came from the Arab world, especially Islam which he regarded as a primitive war lord religion fit only for superstitious savages (smart man!). He closed Hagia Sophia as a mosque & turned it into a museum.
Well, surprise, surprise! Erdogan plans to reopen Hagia Sophia for Islamic worship, & there’s talk that the Ataturk mausoleum, larger than the Lincoln Memorial and for decades a shrine for Turks who prefer secular governance, to be closed indefinitely for “repairs”.

Good question but I guess the most important person —after the invention of clothes, was the guy who figured it was better to drop trou before ‘going’.
