Actually, modern Turkish is written in the Latin alphabet, just like ours. This was one of the earliest reforms of Kemal Ataturk who discarded the cumbersome Arabic script for the Western alphabet. Literacy among Turks greatly increased.

Ataturk basically hated ANYTHING that came from the Arab world, especially Islam which he regarded as a primitive war lord religion fit only for superstitious savages (smart man!). He closed Hagia Sophia as a mosque & turned it into a museum.

Well, surprise, surprise! Erdogan plans to reopen Hagia Sophia for Islamic worship, & there’s talk that the Ataturk mausoleum, larger than the Lincoln Memorial and for decades a shrine for Turks who prefer secular governance, to be closed indefinitely for “repairs”.

arabs, turkish, ottoman, oh my!

It is my personal belief, and not an opinion formed through the new, improved academia, but through all of my over 60 years of life and witnessing history, to wit, that horde of mongrels hold nothing worth even a sneeze to me.

Since when did “modern turkish” become fashionable? Only after their drumming, during the First World War, where they sided with the HUNS. Only AFTER Great Britain seized most of what was the Ottoman Empire, and created such countries, where there were not before, throughout the Middle East and Near Asia.

Were it not for the First World War, most Arabs, and all their inbred cousins, would still only be writing that Ottoman-inspired scratching.
