... It looks like a shocking instance of a onetime Obama adviser saying that the administration pulled the wool over Americas eyes in advancing major legislation. That is certainly how many conservatives are interpreting it after a video of the remarks started circulating this week.
But heres the dirty little secret: Mr. Gruber was exposing something sordid yet completely commonplace about how Congress makes policy of all types: Legislators frequently game policy to fit the sometimes arbitrary conventions by which the Congressional Budget Office evaluates laws and the public debates them.
Essentially, Congress is obsessed with the government equivalent of financial accounting standards instead of cost accounting. It structures the laws in ways that might not be very efficient but sound good on the stump. Mr. Gruber was, in an infelicitous way, expressing frustration with that state of affairs.

Second Video link to Gruber bragging about how stupid American voters are/were to pass ObozoCare.

There are plenty more Filthy Little Secrets that are in fact yet to be exposed and the NYT is saying don’t count on them to expose them, it is their duty to excuse and protect the king, they are absolutely committed to it.
The media have a long history of being progressive types. Wilsonian progressive Walter Lippman was a newspaper editor who said the American people are a “bewildered herd” who need a shadowy group of intellectual elites to manipulate them into doing the right things.
Looks like NYT edited this part of the story out.
The dirty little secret that will come back to haunt them is when Gruber said Obamacare subsidies were only available through state health exchanges.
The lawyers on our side of the case are using that video in their arguments.
Ping (nice graphic)
Has anyone termed this GruberGate?
And nobody in the top picture feels any shame at all. The democrats have two advantages, they lie without shame and they have no shame about being wrong, being caught, destroying people or anything.
I see ... the “Everyone Does It” excuse according to the NY Times.
The Obamacare supporters in that top picture were bussed in to Jackson Michigan from Muskegon and Kalamazoo. It took a few days but pics of them getting off the buses around the corner made their way to the local paper. (This was back in 2009)
Gruber is officially a verb.
Gruber you, too!
Ahhhh - the tried and true...
“Everyone does it”
Defense.
What are they, 13 years old?
(To libs, the end justifies the means.)
Maybe I should read the thread before posting... Naaaah
“The NYT is as bad as Pravda ever was. They should bethe laughing stock of the country.”
How right you are. Look up Walter Duranty...he was LITERALLY RESPONSIBLE for the deaths of THOUSANDS of Americans that he tricked into going to Stalin’s USSR in the 1930s. This man was PURE EVIL and he was writing DAILY in the NEW YORK TIMES.
To this day, they REFUSE to criticize what he did.

Irwin is intellectually bankrupt. Everybody does NOT commit fraud. The whole ‘deeming’ of the law as passed without the benefit of anybody even being allowed to read what was in it should be the first clue - and every Conservative knew, in live time, that a crime was under way - that the dems were committing legislative fraud.
If ever you have the good fortune of meeting a NYT scribbler eating Mussolini noodles and hot Che chicken wings at a bar, take that plate of food and smash it into his commie face.
I completely forgive you and will send you a coupon for a Kentucky Fried chicken dinner of your choice.
