COURT HOUSE Colin Flaherty is a noted journalist for 30 years, whose works have appeared in major newspapers including The New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, and has been published in 1,000 sites around the world and received 50 journalism awards. Flaherty made an appearance Nov. 3 at Atlantic Cape Community College to speak about black-on-white violence, a topic, he stated, which does not receive much press.
The subject makes editors uncomfortable, Flaherty said. Liberals, he said, cringe at the idea of black-on-white violence and police underreport it.
Flaherty documented cases in Chicago where Mayor Rahm Emanuel denied it, and in Philadelphia where Mayor Michael Nutter diminished it.
Flaherty appeared at Helen McCaffreys American History II class, Francis Rauchers English class, and John Alvarezs theatre class, to discuss his book, White Girl Bleed A Lot, and thesis that black-on-white crime is increasing, and that it is not sufficiently covered in the press establishment.
Flaherty said that race riots are occurring and they are largely ignored. Political correctness has reached a new high, according to Flaherty, as TV affiliates, newspaper editors and mayors fall all over themselves to avoid attributing race to the attackers, who are, he said, predominantly young black men.
McCaffrey, who teaches history at Atlantic Cape, introduced Flaherty. The purpose of coming to college is to explore ideas, new ideas, and to think. If we are not making you uncomfortable, we are not making you think. Ask questions, she said, and feel free to agree or disagree. Thats how you learn to think.
Asked about how the speaker got invited, McCaffrey replied, I heard him on the radio, and I thought that he presented an unheard point of view. I told him that he needed to talk to college students, and he said, Lets do it.
Flahertys book, which is a bestseller on Amazon, begins: Racial violence is back. In hundreds of episodes across the country since 2010, groups of black people are roaming the streets of America, intimidating, stalking, vandalizing, stealing, shooting, stabbing, raping, and killing.
In private, they said that it was the Asian students fault. Lots of racism is targeted at immigrants, especially Asians, by young black men, he said.
The students were also complaining because the administration did nothing to protect them. One video, featuring a black youth, said that the object was not racism, but financial opportunity. The people were helpless, had cell phones, did not speak English well and were not able to retaliate. They were afraid. So they were targeted.
Flaherty also detailed incidents of knockout, a game wherein a black mob appears and several members knock over elderly women or men, or a single person, while others beat them. The rest of the assembly stands by and cheers.
Flaherty said he addresses the problem like an old-fashioned newspaper reporter. He doesnt ask why, he doesnt comment on the causes, he just states the facts. He doesnt care why it is happening, he cares that it is happening, and he thinks that truth is better than fiction. And if it is happening, it ought to be covered, he said.
In his book, Flaherty delineated a list of 90 cities under attack. Beginning with Atlantic City, the narrative continues across the country, including anecdote after anecdote, which includes Miami Beach black beach parties, and college campus riots in Philadelphia and in the Midwest.
Closer to Cape May County, Flaherty reported many cases of black-on-white violence in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Washington, D.C. and New York.
He talked about liberals who want to give reasons for the behavior but who fail to recognize it for what it is. He mentioned newspapers calling attackers youths, but never presenting their color. He talked about the newspapers minimizing the situation.
At one point during the talk at Atlantic Cape, a voice from the audience shouted, Are you a racist? That was Leon Hart, a black man.
No, Im just giving you the facts, Flaherty replied.
Discussing Ferguson, Mo., Flaherty said that NBC reported, The protests at Ferguson have been largely peaceful. However, the police in the area had purchased $172,669 worth of tear gas, grenades, and other body armor. Demonstrations, he said, were violent, rampant with Molotov cocktails, gunfire, and residents were beaten.
Flaherty said the event was documented with videos, 911 calls, police reports.
He said that the reason a lot of black violence goes unreported is fear. In Philadelphia, he said, there are 2,500 cases of intimidation on the books. People were attacked in their homes, police went and broke it up, the attackers left, and then went back and threatened destruction if anyone spoke about it.
Flaherty went on to describe polar bear hunting, where blacks get together and beat up whites. It occurs, he said, at a lot at colleges, like the University of Illinois. Its always a lot worse than what I describe. Every story I do, people come up to me and say, Oh yeah, thats been happening around here, too.
But that means spreading out the ghetto into the vast middle class, and that results in the spread of crime, litter, intimidation, and violence into those previously safe areas.
I do not want my child going near that.
I want her to live.
a member of my family owned a store in a local mall. Althought only 10% of the shoppers were black, the were responsible for 90% of the shoplifting
She said it got so bad that any time any one of them walked into the store she had to follow them around. She had to stop taking checks (which was a financial hit) because almost every time she took one from a black person it bounced, and she could not put up a sign saying “no checks from black people”
Is this racist? No it is a recitation of facts. What are you supposed to do in these sitiations?
You are lying to the people and they know it. What future is there in that business model? How many more newspapers must close, how many more journalists will lose their jobs, before you decide, gee whiz, maybe telling the people the truth as an information company would be a better business model.
Sincerely,
A former subscriber to up to 3 newspapers and 3 newsmagazines at one time. I barely looked at a newspaper in over a decade.
I would love to see this experiment run.
Billionaire Sheldon Adelson has spent up to $100 million on political ads in support of GOP politicians. Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, has suggested that he take $20 million a buy a women's magazine and turn it conservative. I'd just add, buy a major city newspaper and see if you can't put together a lively, populist/conservative newspaper and make money publishing it. The NY Post does well in New York City. Buy the LA Times, which 15 years ago was unreadable, who knows how it is today.
This is a good start and hopefully Rush paves the wave for more lawsuits. I'd like to see the Democrat Party sued for incitement to race hatred. It'd be a slam dunk, oh through Thad Cochran and Haley Barbour in to that one, just to make it bipartisan. You know, reaching across the aisle is supposedly what the voters said last week.
“My opinion is also, that the Hispanics won’t tolerate this the way whites do.”
Probably one of the most under-reported stories is illegals ethnically cleansing neighborhoods of blacks, especially in California. Here are a few example of many:
http://articles.latimes.com/2013/jan/25/local/la-me-0126-compton-20130126
Inciting race hatred is exactly what Democrats have been doing because they benefit by dividing the country on any lines. Look how liberals treated the Zimmerman case. Suddenly to them he wasn’t Hispanic anymore, he was white. And he was instantly declared guilty and a racist, just to fan the flames of their race war.
A second, related problem is that poor people in neighborhoods with vanishingly few jobs need to move, and ideally they should be able to afford to move to areas within reasonable proximity to job centers. This means that prosperous suburban jurisdictions, which is where the service sector jobs largely are, must give some thought to affordable housing for working class families.
None of us want a gangbanger moving in next door. Unfortunately, however, NIMBY is not a substitute for good policy, and most poor people are not gangbangers.
As a thought experiment, I have always been partial to an absolute defense of private property rights as a good place to start the discussion. By all means, suburbanites are free to fortify their cul-de-sac castles as much as they want. Hip, hip, hooray for property rights, and if you want serious firepower covering all approaches, ok with me.
But respect for private property rights also means the guy across the street can sublet to 16 Mexican day laborers who want to bunk up in your neighborhood to be close to the construction job down the road. It means the little old lady down the block can let out rooms. You might not object to that ... but it also means that the working class guy can move onto your block, and afford the mortgage by taking half the house, and taking borders in the rest. And it means that a developer can put duplexes on the empty lot and a multi-family unit down on the corner.
This kind of thing sets off wars in the suburbs, and I understand why. But if these adaptations are ruled out of bounds, where do you want to house the poor? Don't zone them out of your neighborhood, expect the city to become a dumping ground, and call that a free market. Been there, done that, doesn't work. I don't want a Section 8 house on my block either. But if we give poor people a voucher and tell them to find their own apartments, I am willing to accept the probability that they will disperse into more prosperous areas. And dispersal is one of the keys to addressing the culture of poverty.
I think so too as we’re almost there......
It’s becoming very tiring to see this trend becoming an epidemic nationwide and yet whenever a white reacts to defend themselves, the police, media and black subculture reacts with all sorts of vindictive indignation to punish them for daring to defend themselves against barbaric evil people.
Any honest discussion on race that doesn’t include the 50 year inner-city war on whites is nothing but DAMN LIES!
We ha a similar thing happen back in the military in 1966. As the southern boys told of their experiences with blacks, two Yankees chimed in and said they had no problems with blacks, and had no reason to hate them.
One of the Southern boys said, “Before you get out of the military, you will hate them because THEY (the blacks) will teach you to hate them!”
We were all then transferred to different military bases.
ONE years later, we were thrown together again, and the first thing we noticed was these two Yankees now despised blacks. They were so racist that they put the Southern boys to shame!
We never did find out what had happened to make them so.
Moving to the suburbs won’t change anything. What you describe has already taken place in the northeast. The behavior remained the same. The good people in these suburbs just moved again. How about this? Why do we allow poor neighborhoods to be shooting galleries and drug infested? Shouldn’t the poor, regardless of where they live, be safe? Dysfunction doesn’t end because you are handed a Section 8 voucher in the suburbs. Trust me I know, I own several apartment buildings in the city and suburbs. The biggest problem is drugs. Period.
Back in the olden days if something like this happened, a section of the town would be burned down, and the next morning (comment removed before the mods do it), but then it would be safe to walk the streets again for years!
***Had big racial set-to on my aircraft carrier around 1961.***
I remember reading about such a thing happening back around 1968 on an Aircraft carrier off Vietnam.
Is there a potentially successful lawsuit here? I’d have liked to see Zimmerman sue NBC for altering the 911 tapes to incite hatred based on race.
Connie too.
“Constellation was the focus of media attention when black members of her crew protested what they saw as disparate treatment by the Navy, leading to what some saw as an aborted mutiny in late 1972. Constellation returned to the United States on 1 July and prepared to return to the western Pacific in early 1973. Replacement personnel reported aboard while Constellation was in the United States until the ship had 250 more men than the ship’s berthing could accommodate. Constellation’s commanding officer ordered administrative (less than honorable) discharges for five black sailors he considered troublemakers. He planned to give early discharges to another 250 men whose enlistments would expire while Constellation was overseas. While Constellation was conducting exercises off the California coast, a rumor started that the captain was going to give 250 less than honorable discharges to black sailors. On 1 November, black sailors waylaid a white mess cook in a passageway and broke his jaw. The captain scheduled an open meeting for 2100 3 November to clarify the 250 planned discharges. At noon 3 November a group of 50 black sailors began a sit-in on a portion of the mess deck. On the night of 34 November 60 black sailors took control of the scheduled meeting, refused to leave the mess deck, and threatened to “tear up the ship.”
Government's lose power and influence, otherwise, there'd never be a revolution. And I believe, we're near or at the tipping point of successfully calling everyone a racist and getting what you want. Guns are selling like hotcakes in Ferguson. People are not going to allow a mob, any mob, including a black mob to attack their neighborhood out of feelings of guilt. Those days are past.
I’d like to see Obama sued in that case for sticking his in and taking Trayvon’s side before it even went to trial, not that there should have even been a trial in the first place.
Why Not?... as long as blacks get away with it....
WHY NOT?.... or muslims, hispanics, gays... whatever..
IF insurrection WORKS.... it works..
That’s very funny; to be fair, in my town it would be white trash stealing everything (though increasingly Hispanics are filling the town and the police blotters).
Obama is the master of this. I believe he has done it on purpose.
