Arrowhead (John) fell off a 20 ladder at work, onto his head, and has a severe brain injury!
Broke all the bones in his face and skull, broke his shoulder blade and some ribs.
His last post was 10/20 in the morning. He fell about 2pm that same day and was LifeFlighted to the hospital; then, after about 6 hours of surgery, he went directly to ICU. It was touch and go for days in critical condition.
After 2 weeks in ICU he has been transferred to a Specialty Neurological Rehab center in Austin, as of 11/3.
He can move his arms and legs, so no spinal injury, but he is not cognizant. Sometimes he can respond to can you squeeze my hand?, sometimes not. His daughter is getting ready to go back home.
The nurses are calling them every day. Small improvements are noticed, such as he sat up for 10 seconds today, but no one has a prognosis. Brain injuries heal how they heal, when the heal, if they heal....3 to 6 months at least.
PRAY HARD, please!!!! And spread the word to your prayer lists.
I was just wondering how things were. Prayers continue for him to heal in body and mind.
Arrow...you are missed!
That is very reassuring, Caww!
Still praying for your full recovery, Arrowhead.
Prayers up.
Kathy, how old is he?
He’s 62....his daughter said the 1952 in his screen name is his year of birth.
Prayers for healing and recovery. May the Divine Physician guide those caring for arrowhead and may his loved ones be comforted from their anxiety.
Thanks Kathy-we pray for him everyday.Did get my card out:)
That is a great idea Kathy - State postcards! Thanks again for keeping up updated on John’s condition and progress.
Amen
Watching the family and my father-in-law go through this was difficult for he was a very strong and powerful man reduced to being fed and barely able to sit up when he was healing....
Like Arrow there were two steps forward and two back sometimes...this was for many many weeks before it began to be consistant in getting three steps forward and two back..but all celebrated that one step gained!
I think he was in his late 50’s or early 60’s...
It is hard for those standing by not to get discouraged at times, but you learn that you are also taking steps with them....and like them you have to seek the Lord to continue.
But they have the hardest work to do.
The fact he’s in therapy and is walking a bit is really encouraging to hear.....even if it kicks back to where he’s not for a time...tha’ts how it seems to go. My father-in-law was a changed man in how he saw life after that....and hiimself.....
When he came home , and even then it wasn’t always easy to formulate his words...he did say over and over...holding his fingers up...”We are all just this close, so love life”...
Still Arrow’s not out of the woods yet and needs us all to pray for him and the family...it is a long haul...and other things can happen along the way so don’t be surprised...just keep praying for him.
Lord jesus,
We come to you rejoicing in these small gains arrow is accomplishing that encourage us that you indeed have stepped into this arena he is in. There are many physicians etc. caring for him ord ,..and we do ask that each one be appinted by your hand to see arrow through this.
We know nothing comes into our life that you cannot use for your purposes and we trust you fully that that be met every day and hour in all that Arrow faces...and surpasses.
Thanking you now for what you have done, are doing at this moment, and will be doing in the hours, weeks and months ahead....rejoicing that you are the Almighty God fully in charge of all pretaining to Arrow and his family.
Thanking you most of all..that you are there ...because you say your ...
In Jesus Name,
Amen
Thank you
Leni
Glad to hear of the small progress—it’s better than no progress!
Prayers continue to be said for him—and all of your family.
Lord Jesus Christ, we praise Thee and we continue to pray for the complete recovery of Thy servant.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Amen. Thanks for the encouraging words for Arrow and his family. I hope they read this a feel a bit more optimistic!
BTTT
Prayers for all. Hang in there.
All of theses are very good signs! Walking 70 feet is a huge accomplishment!!!
His speech is likely weak because he is working so hard physically.
All in all, great job!
Paryers continue.... God will never abandon.... have faith... and from that courage and strength...
