The title of leader of the free world has traditionally been held by an American President. But since America does not have a suitable candidate for such a title at the moment, which world leaders qualify to be leaders of the free world?
These are possible candidates - Stephen Harper (Canada), Angela Merkel (Germany), Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel), Vladimir Putin (Russia), and David Cameron (Britain).
Non-Western leaders can include
1. The new right-wing Hindu Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who passionately opposes Islamic extremism. His party, the BJP, is very pro-Israel. As Chief Minister of Gujarat State, he implemented small government policies, which led to high rates of economic growth in Gujarat. Pro-Muslim forces in America had him banned from visiting America when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat, because of his opposition to radical Islam.
2. Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi, who kicked the Muslim brotherhood terrorist leader, Morsi, out of office. He also banned the Muslim Brotherhood, over the protests of the US government. El-Sisi is a tougher opponent of radical Islam than Mubarak.
3. The Christian President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, who was willing to endure foreign aid cuts to his country, because he opposed US attempts to impose gay rights in his country. Museveni is not only pro-Israel, but he is a personal friend of Bibi Netanyahu, whom he visits frequently. Museveni's army is fighting Muslim terrorists in Somalia. Museveni is also buiding a Museum in Entebbe to honor Israeli Commandos who rescued Jewish hostages, who had been held in Uganda by Muslim terrorists in 1976. What nation does he currently lead? This article is about CURRENT national leaders, not wished for/wanted leaders.
He’d be a good choice, were he actually IN the White House.

My very first thought also, he is the only one qualified, but in two years he will prove himself not only the leader of the free world, but of the entire world, especially when he pronounces, Tear Down This Islam!
