With Republicans confident of reclaiming control of the Senate, Democrats are looking to black voters in two Southern states to help preserve their majority.

Republicans, who are expected to keep control of the House in Tuesday’s election and need to gain six seats to win a majority in the Senate, have been bolstered by President Barack Obama’s low popularity ratings. But the president remains an inspirational figure for many African-Americans, and Democrats are pushing hard for high turnout among their core constituencies, including women and minorities....

37% of the MS population is Black. Travis Childers has dug in and is running hard against Thad Cochran. If he gets 90% of the Black vote and the White Democrats turn out and vote for him and about 20,000 of Chris McDaniel’s supporters vote for him and about 20,000 McDaniel supporters stay home or skip the Senate Race on the ballot......... Thad loses.

... internal statewide poll conducted earlier this week shows Cochran stuck at 45%.
After 42 years in Washington and $7 million dollars spent in this election,
Cochran still cannot convince a majority of Mississippians to support him.
His trouble begins within his own party:
at this juncture, Cochran can count on LESS THAN 45% of the McDaniel primary voters.
Congressman Childers is getting MORE THAN a fifth (20% + ) of the remaining McDaniel supporters
and almost 4 in ten of these REGULARLY Republican voters are still CONSIDERING their options…

The numbers show a path to victory:
Cochran is stuck in the mid 40’s at best.
A robust turnout among traditional Democrats
and a strong Childers vote in the first CD where he has higher name ID
and crossover appeal could produce AN UPSET.

White women should take note that they are not included in this slap at their menfolk; it is no accident that rather than raising a next generation of Americans they are working their tails off to support other (non-white) children. As their marginalized menfolk go, so will they...

It is out in the open now, but no deterrent for a marginalized group reduced to instant gratification. If voting for freebies now reduces their children & grandchildren losing their futures to Hispanics, black voters seem quite OK with that...
