In 2012, he said that Zimmerman was merely ensuring the safety of his neighborhood and that had made him a 'victim' Now, he says that had Martin been a white teen, Zimmerman would never have killed him

Taaffe also offered condolences to Martin's parents He said that the recent loss of his own two sons had caused him to have a change of heart
