Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says he would be willing to repeal Obamacare with a simple majority if he takes over as majority leader in January, his spokesman told the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
The announcement comes just days before Tuesday's midterm congressional election, in which Republicans have a strong chance of seizing the upper chamber from the Democrats and putting the Kentucky senator in charge.
"Leader McConnell is and has always been committed to the full repeal of Obamacare, and he'll continue to lead efforts to repeal and replace it with patient-centered reforms that enable greater choice at lower costs. He knows it won't be easy, but he also believes that if Republicans are fortunate enough to take back the majority well owe it to the American people to try through votes on full repeal, the bills most onerous provisions, and reconciliation, McConnell spokesman Brian McGuire wrote in an emailed statement.

I'm of the same opinion.
Crony capitalism whether it's during a Rat admn., or a Pub admn., is equally debilitating to free mkts and the opportunity for individuals to compete.
Exactly.
Since we haven't had a budget since Obama ascended to the throne they have no constitutional authority to continue spending money that was never appropriated. Since the Fed continues to flood the economy with worthless paper I guess it really doesn't matter since the President seems to be able to spend money anywhere he chooses.
No Congress can bind a future Congress. Congressional leaders seem to have forgotten that part of the Constitution.
The only real power to stop this imperial government is for Governors to exercise their 10th amendment powers, but they won't. Eisenhower addicted all of them to Federal money with the Interstate Highway funding which morphed into the Feds controlling almost everything.
Heard that, too. The original promise was weeks before... The 2010 election.
And here we are again in 2014.
Groundhog Day.
The Nevada legislator should as soon as possible pass a resolution expressing the peoples outrage at the massively unfair and unjust federal land grab. Nevada’s Governor aut to be raising his voice on the matter too to get attention for the people and state of Nevada on this abuse Federal Land Grab.
The big issue is This isent just an relation against Bundy this a massive attack upon the land and resource of the people of Southern Nevada.
This is Washington punishing an entire community for the disputed actions of one man. That is a grossly unfair and unjust overreaction. Nevada’s leaders need to raise their voices in loud protest over this grossly unfair land grab. Nevada has to make this a national issue to get the pressure on BLM to pull out of nevada and leave Nevadas natural resources to the people.
Right now BLM is out of vindictiveness making that case for Nevada. They are grossly overreacting by punish an entire community for the act of just one man. or if this really is about some sort of obscure animal or plant they are placing that plant or animals supposed livelihood over that of the people of Nevada.
Eyther way this is something Nevada’s leaders should be going on the news about to try and bring attention to the issue in hopes of saving Nevada’s peoples access to her natural resources.
That maybe true, but i happen to believe Mitch is a good enough politician to eventually reconize the winds that will be blowing ever more strongly against Obamacare as its full effects hit the peoples wallets and healthcare access all that more harder.
Getting Obama on the record for vetoing even the outstanding issues like the individual mandate would be politically devastating for the Democratic party.
As it puts them on record for being in the pocket of big business by forcing people to buy their goods and services.
On the other hand if the democrats call the bluff and vote for the mandate repeal we will have a means by which we can destroy the Liberal Goverment supporting Insurance industry even more quickly thereby pushing people back into savings plans and good Health choices. All with Obama’s signature.
Mitch McConnell may be a backstabbing strategic morron, as he demonstrated last year during the stand off. but it will be in his interest to keep his word.
keep his word?
The one here he vowed to destroy the TEA Party?
the trick is taking over the Chamber or rather retaking it from the Liberal infiltrators.
You do not and cannot simply write off every organization that turns against you. They have money and supporters that we need to inform or at least neutralize.
One way or the other theses organization will not simply die they will either be cooped by us or they will be a threat.
no not keep his word, act in his own political interest. Mitch McConnell seems to me like a traitorous untrustworthy bastard that I’d like to see lose as much as you. But im not going to pretend he ain’t still a politician ultimately trying to smell the wind.
He would never have made it to minority leader if that were not the case. Im on the fence whether or not Kentuckians should vote for or against him. Fortunately im not a Kentuckian so i don’t have to make that call.
Kentucky republicans should defantly go out and vote for all the Local and State conservatives.
Those are the really important leaders we will need in the years to come if we are to stop Washington.
If the GOP really wins seats. I have a feeling the GOP will lose Senate and House seats.
Reconciliation bills can’t be filibustered because they affect the budget.
Your tagline is LAUGHABLE!!!
Ya really want the power too. Don't ya Mutch!
Yawn.
Yes, repeal that no good socialist piece of social engineering, demographic warfare, piece of crap!
Why would he even GET to be majority leader if the Rs win? He’s so smarmy!
If the Repubs take the Senate, Reed will repeal the Filibuster rule they voted on earlier this year, before the January turnover.
Re: “He lies. Anyone that votes for him deserves what hell they bring on themselves. If they dont know what a fraud he is by now, they are too stupid to be voting.”
Soooo, if McConnell loses and a Dem is elected in his place, THAT will increase our chances of repealing Obamacare?
Or, take a chance, however slim, and vote McConnell back in, and possibly get rid of Obamacare?
I would go with the slim chance as opposed to no chance at all.
Sixty is the magic number, and the Republicans will never have that number. Even in 2016, with a Republican President, they will never get to the sixty number.
So, Obamacare is here to stay....for decades possibly. As prices continue to escalate....I would speculate that around around forty million Americans will be without health insurance by 2018....more than in 2008. Journalists will be sitting there on a story of significant impact to society....yet unable to tell it because it really says volumes about the results of this eight-year period under the administration.
All votes should be 51. Drop the filibuster like it hot.
