Cruz said that marriage is a "question for the states" because of the country's federalist system.
"This is something we’ve seen over and over again, which is the federal government and federal courts deciding they don’t trust the people," Cruz said. "They look down on the people, they don’t trust us to make judgments about our own lives, so the federal government and federal courts are going to step in and impose their own policy preferences."

I think we are to criticise the sin not the sinner. I hope your criticism was not directed toward Mr. Cruz, but rather toward the sin of an admitted homosexual.
It was obviously a trick question by the media that Mr. Cruz skilfully dodged to avoid an unwarranted judgement of Mr. Cook. Unless Mr. Cruz condones the sin, I have no issues with his response. But they did not ask him a direct question about his views on homosexuality.
How do you think Jesus would have responded to the same question? Would HE have responded to Mr. Cruz, Mr. Cook, or to both something like this: “Homosexuality is an abomination to G_D the father, your sins are forgiven, now go and sin no more”.
I do not know the answer to my question, but I know G_D tells me it is an abomination in his eyes. I believe G_D will judge me for my sins, not those of others who have chosen to commit sin by their own freewill.

First let me preface my response by repeating an old truth; “Politics is the art of the possible.”
With that in mind I invite all of the purists out there to offer a factual response to rebut me or to change my mind. I am open to any and all suggestions. Let me begin by offering a real-life scenario.
A Republican and Democrat are running for Senate in NH. The GOP is desperate to recover control of the Senate as things have spiraled out of control here in the U.S. In one corner we have the marxist, progressive Democrat. In the other, we have a liberal Republican who while he is definitely not a “rock-ribbed” Conservative, he will vote with the GOP 70% of the time. Is it your contention that because this GOP candidate is not perfectly Conservative or that he does not agree with you on all issues that we should not vote for him? Which in turn makes the road for the Dem candidate, who will vote with us 0% of the time much easier on the way to getting elected. Keeping in mind that this election is taking place in a very deep blue region of the country. In a region of the country that very rarely sees a GOP candidate win a statewide election. That is making a stand? That is helping the country?
We should be counting our lucky stars any time a Republican has a shot in MA, CA. IL or any of the Northeast. By refusing to vote for them because they are not a “perfect” Conservative is both naive and just plain stupid. 100% conservatives are not going to get elected in places like this, at least not right now.
This is why in many ways, I believe Conservatives are just as emotional and delusional as liberals. They see the world the way the want it to be, not the way it is. Liberals have one thing going for them, they are patient and understand incrementalism. The Democrat Party did not move en-masse to the far left overnight. It took decades. The GOP will not move to the right overnight either. We must defeat the Dems first, anywhere and everywhere that we can. Then we can concentrate on moving the GOP to the right. We cannot win against the GOPe, the media, the Dems, and the gibsmedats all at the same time. It must be done methodically and with a plan.
Before anyone goes spouting off ignorant posts about how I am colluding with progressives or some such nonsense just know that if you are one of these “purists” it is you who are playing right into their hands. You are fighting the war on their terms.
I want the country moved to the right, probably further than most. I am am realistic enough to know that it is not going to happen in one election or overnight.
Not really...if the CEO is managing the bottom line effectively and returning profits to his share and stakeholders then no one could give a piddle what depraved things he is doing in his spare time.

I have come to realize that there are some people who are so immersed in religion and scripture from the time they are born that they are literally incapable of formulating a thought or argument or emotion outside of that context. Their minds cannot see anything else.
I have also come to realize that many of those people post here.
How? Conservatives appear unwilling to enter the fields and major in the subjects that would facilitate this. Instead they just mock those fields and majors while patting themselves on the back for starting their own businesses or "having a real job".
You make a good point, and the internet revolution really didn’t help either as most significant internet portals are controlled by progressives.
Purists aren’t the problem. Compromisers are.
Purists didn’t help create 17 trillion in debt. Purists didn’t create bloated govt agencies. Purists didn’t vote for Dem nominated Supreme Court Justices.
Save the contempt for the Compromisers, the lesser of two evil Republicans, the Republicans who once elected walked across the political aisle to help Dems achieve their policies.

Another time, Jesus gave a concrete example to a crowd of self-righteous men, sure about their positions, and arrogant in their knowledge of what the rules of their culture demanded, intending to show up this up-start minor "politician" Jesus, and about to administer summary judgment and execution themselves to a sinner. asked Jesus how they should handle the "case." (I'm not trying to equate Ted Cruz with Jesus, but the cases are amazingly parallel.)
In John 8:1 - 11 scribes and Pharisees had caught a woman in the act of adultery (the woman commonly referred to as the prostitute) and told Jesus who was teaching in the temple that the Mosaic Law required she be stoned to death. Trying to make an opportunity of this to trick Jesus that they might accuse Him, they, with stones in hand, asked Jesus what He says about the Law. After Jesus tried to ignore their repeated questioning, He told them "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." One by one each man dropped his stone and walked away.
Just an FYI, there have been tons of higher ups and plenty of employees in Microsoft, Apple, etc. who were homosexual for quite some time, it’s just a case where a CEO, as opposed to a step lower, identifies as such.

Not true. Depraved things between consenting adults that impact no-one but the involved parties? Fine. Do what you want. That is between you and God. Depraved things involving unwilling parties, children, animals (by their nature, involuntary), or that impact their neighbors (too many loud, objectional, or intrusive parties, etc.), sorry, not allowed, and the cops should fall on your head with a ton of legal repercussions.
I don't give a damn what these CEOs do to themselves privately, so long as it doesn't spill over into their ability to do their jobs effectively. Once they allow the activities to affect the job, the extracurricular activities are negatively impacting others, and they should be GONE from their positions of business and fiduciary trust.
