Ted Cruz draws line from Jeb Bush to Hillary Clinton
Politico ^ | 10/30/2014 | Jonathan Topaz

Sen. Ted Cruz on Thursday took a thinly veiled shot at Jeb Bush, saying that Republicans will ensure a Hillary Clinton presidency if they run a more moderate candidate in 2016.

Appearing on CNBC, the Texas Republican and tea party favorite was asked about Bush and said that presidential candidates from the party’s establishment wing — like Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2008 and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in 2012 — consistently fail to turn out millions of voters.

“[I]f we run another candidate in the mold of a Bob Dole [in 1996] or a John McCain or Mitt Romney, we will end up with the same result, which is millions of people will stay home on Election Day, which is what happened for all three of them,” the senator said. “And if we run another candidate like that, Hillary Clinton will be the next president.” Clinton, the former secretary of state, is widely considered to be the front-runner for the Democratic nomination if she chooses to run.

Cruz, himself a potential 2016 candidate, was initially asked what he thought of a potential Jeb Bush candidacy. Bush, who has staked out some centrist positions on issues like immigration reform, is openly considering a bid and has some support from the more moderate wing of the Republican Party.

“Jeb has not declared his candidacy. I like Jeb. I’m a fan of Jeb Bush’s. I’m going to let him decide if he’s running first and let the primary voters make a decision,” Cruz said. “But I will say this: We need to learn from history, we need to look to history and what works and what doesn’t.” The senator then went on to make his comments about Dole, McCain and Romney.

I fully supported Terry Schiavo’s family. I blasted Bush for his inaction.

But I never did deny that overriding that judge would have required an act of civil disobedience on the part of Bush. He wasn’t prepared to go there. Neither were most pro-lifers, who did not storm the hospital and seize Schiavo.

So, Schiavo is part of why I gave Bush 1/2 and not 1.

I’m sure you have your reasons for that, but there is no way in hell Bush would be tougher on ANYTHING, than Romney. And that is saying VERY little.

I'm thinking the whole, “blame conservatives” crowd for a GOP loss in elections need to come on in for the big win.

The moderates always rail on conservatives for handing victories to the socialist because they vote principal or not vote at all.

I say, moderates be marginalized. We conservatives want moderates to STOP compromising their principals. DO NOT accept liberal/moderate policy positions. Move the platform back to it's root. Smaller government, lower taxes, less regulation, no gay marriage, no amnesty, close the borders, audit the federal reserve, stop borrowing from China, submit a zero based budget, 5 year moratorium on legal immigration, bring back American manufacturing so we can dig ourselves as a nation out of this fiscal hole before it destroys our country.

BRING BACK OUR JOBS! BOYCOTT CHEAP CHINESE GOODS! People, listen...boycott Chinese goods. The only way to realize change is to change our behavior.

Our nation was built by the sweat of the brow of hard working blue collar Americans. We've bought into the lies of politicians and multi-national executives.

Americans want cheaper goods. Doing the jobs that Americans won't do. Two big fat lies! Americans didn't want cheaper goods in exchange for their livelihoods, their standard of living.

Remember when politicians once attempted to protect American jobs? Protect our industry? Protect against monopolies? Foreign dumping of goods into our country?

Example: The company I worked for could only do business in China through a front company. We could not sell an American product in China...Government wouldn't allow it. We had to strip all the labels, anything that identified the product as American, then re-label it with a Chinese companies name...then we could sell it.

What's wrong with this picture folks? I was driving through the desert in New Mexico and noticed a train...so long you couldn't see the end of it, all with double stacked Chinese cargo containers traveling from ports in CA. through the heartland of America. They can sell BILLIONS in goods in our country, but we could not in their country?

America has realized the largest shift of wealth in the history of the world.....to China. Folks, for all that is good and holy....wake up!

Begin a personal boycott of Chinese goods if you want to even the playing field. It is up to US. Want to save your country folks? Call, write, scream bloody murder, boycott.

Well, you saw my numbers. I think I based them on the record, but I’m no expert. All I know is what I know. I’m always open to new info.

I agree. Boycott those who practice unfair trade, and buy American whenever you can.

You've got to be kidding. Even the Bush's know not to talk about Neil Bush. He was involved in the Silverado Saving and Loan scandal (cost the tax payer quite a bit) and he admitted to consorting with young Thailand and Hong Kong prostitutes. No thanks on this Bush either.

Ted Cruz's instincts are so spot on!

When he declares I will be contributing.

Ted Cruz or Scott Walker.
That’s it for me.

Sometimes there is no choice due to the shear quantity of Chinese goods, but often times there is.

Just gotta make a habit of checkin the labels. Purchase from other countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Mexico...whatever, just boycott Chinese goods and bite into their pocket. Over time it will make a difference.

During Jeb Bush's admin they passed the law that allowed them to take Terri's life. It was added to a budget bill. He could have vetoed it, but he signed it. Previously, they couldn't have killed her.

We went down to Florida to the hospice. On the way down, they announced on the radio that Jeb Bush was going to send the National Guard. We almost turned around thinking that he would save Terri's life, but decided to go ahead since we were close to the Florida border by then. It turned out it was just a stunt. He called the Guard back.

I heard a phone called a reporter made, he told the person on the other side, he thought Jeb announced he was sending the National Guard in to get the support of his constituents, but he really didn't have any intention to use them. I thought about this and decided he was right.

I liked Newt.

...

Newt was the last good thing to come from the GOP with the 1994 election. Too bad he appears nuts sometimes like his bench appearance with Pelosi.

Ted Cruz or Scott Walker.

How about Ted Cruz & Scott Walker.

Both men have fought when all the media, Rats & rino's were against them and they never buckled under the pressure.

What's the point in electing a rino "centrist". They won't do anything with the power they've gotten. We hate obama because he uses his power, and then some, to advance his agenda (the destruction of America as a freedom loving, limited govt with free markets).

I agree. Schiavo was a wash, and a very difficult situation. There are many other reasons not to like Jeb.

I just find it odd that the gop is never able to figure out how to succeed, ever.

Bottom line, if a Bush, Romney, Christie is top of the ticket we will not win. May as well start a 3rd party.

What really did him in was his talk about a new space program. And most of the ridicule came from the right.

That’s what we do. We field a dozen candidates for the primaries, then we are all so sick of each other come election time, we stay home out of spite.

I’d take another look at Romney’s record on gays. He’s much more conservative than most in the GOP. Cetainly better than any Bush is.

Yeah, I think that is the gope strategy and has been for a long time. I’m sick of their rigged primaries. no more. Either a real Conservative, or 3rd party.

What really did him in was his talk about a new space program.

His enemies destroyed him with this idea that, if done half-right, would generate industry, jobs, and satisfaction again for citizens living in the USA.
