Barely a week after being named the 17th richest member of Congress, liberal firebrand and Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson is refusing to support his estranged wife and their kids, and his wife has turned to government food stamps to support her family, WFTV 9 Orlando reports.
Grayson’s marriage of 29 years dissolved earlier this year when his wife, Lolita Grayson, filed for divorce. A week later, Rep. Grayson asked a court to annul the marriage on the basis of bigamy.
Mr. Grayson is refusing to support his family because he is claiming that she was never divorced from her first husband and therefore their marriage was never legitimate.

But Alan Grayons' attorney, Mark Nejame, said it's no surprise the information is coming out now, one week before Election Day, arguing Lolita Grayson's assistance application is incomplete. On the paperwork, she only claims $592 per child for her monthly income, but Nejame says Grayson is also paying the mortgage, utilities and phone bill for the home, a total of about $10,000 a month. "This is abusing the public," Nejame said. "She's going out and asking for support because she can't support herself on $120,000? That's outrageous."
I have no idea what the facts are, but maybe someone who has been married to Alan Grayson for 29 years might not be entirely reliable herself.

He’s a Congressman, the rules don’t apply.
DNA proof is not required. Courts have repeatedly held that the ex-husband is required to pay child support even if, subsequently, it is determined that he is not their biological father.
He acts like one.
It’s Central Florida, Orlando. At one time the district had more Republicans, but the legislature redrew the districts to separate them more on party lines. The posher areas like Winter Park are die hard pubbies but center city Orlando, Democrats. I’m in the dimbulb area but already voted for Carol Platt. We’ll see how it comes out.

recently a guy who never fathered a child is being forced to pay $30,000 for child support. This rich guy refuses to pay his wife and kids support.
You would think that the guys co-workers would let him know what they think of him. My guess is they are all bankrupt morally and won’t say anything.
How old are the kids? If the Graysons have been married 25+ years, wondering how old the kids are.
dems are easy to figure out. Why support your kids; isn’t that what the government is for.

He should file for sole custody.
The story indicates they are in public schools and on the free lunch program. His $10,000 a month are utilities and mortgage, which is quite hefty given the size of the home.
It is the selfishness and lack of concern that disturbs. Maybe he isn’t rich, how did a buffoon like Grayson get rich?

Grayson is asking for all property and assets to be returned to him. In addition, he is asking for $15,000 in damages plus unspecified punitive damages for defamation. There is no mention of the kids in the new annulment petition, but in the divorce petition, he had asked for exclusive use of the house and all seven cars, plus ‘responsibility’ for the children.
He made his money the old fashioned way.
He’s a lawyer in Wash DC who used his connections to get in with a telecom company that made huge $$$.

This crap happens because it’s allowed to. If his crap were pushed by his opponents, he wouldn’t do it. He knows that the GOP will never ‘go there’ with any serious intent, so he powertrips.
He isn’t the first and will not be the last. If people want this shit stopped, they should crucify him in every venue available. Shame him even if can’t feel shame. Because some of his backers will.
It’s the gov’t’s job to take care of people, donchaknow.
