Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) this week signaled his support for undocumented immigrant children to have a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
“For children who came with their parents into the country and did not comply with our immigration laws, they are guilty of nothing other than coming with their family,” Cornyn said during a Tuesday night Senate debate. “We ought to provide them with an opportunity not only to go to school, but eventually serve in the military or complete a college education and earn American citizenship.”
In 2003, he voted for the DREAM Act, which would have created a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who went to college or the military and were not deemed dangerous to the public.

Here! Here! I’m right there with you. His office is very good with the “canned” response. Funny think, my aunt was trying to get another aunt here via legal immigration. She is the oldest surviving of 7 sisters. The aunt who started the process, passed away, so my mother took over the process. Do you know they told her too bad, so sad, you have to start all over again. Letter to Cornyn garnered no response, but here he is doing his best to pander for votes.

Which always baffles me. You’ve got the other team on the run, and you do stupid stuff that makes your own team want to stay home.
Pathway to Voter Registration makes more sense to Democrats and others who have or think they have a deal or understanding with Democrats about their own future prosperity. or maybe the deal is the deal with the Crocodile- “Please please, eat me last!”
More than cowardly, they are evil. They are trying to erect with millions of guaranteed votes the Permanent Democrat State- maybe the Sharia State- even as they, at least for the moment, identify themselves as “opposition” Republicans.
The GOP RINOs like being in the majority. They are not assisting, in fact obstructing.
They like to have their lobbyist donors and the C of C as their boss. Now they’re out in the open with their liberal push, and life is difficult for those who care not to be found out.
Look at it this way...if republicans were against abortion, it would not still be a fight.
Whether they actually like it or not, I am convinced they don’t mind all that much.

It would seem the donor class would tire of this at some point, but it appears you’re right. I know there are a lot of Republicans who still think the party is worth financing.
Abortion is not very popular. Outside the die-hard feminists and the college crowd, folks have turned against it as a way to cover for unwanted pregnancies.
Polls show a majority of people thinking it’s wrong. Something like 65 to 35% by some reports I’ve read...
Nothing more than the GOP trying to ensure their usual 2% of the Latino vote.

What I find interesting is this perception.
The general approval numbers range from 35 to 40% generally.
At the same time, those who want it to be illegal in all instances is generally 20 to 25%. (that may vary a bit, no looking at the actual numbers as I write this)
If 35 to 40% think it should be generally available, that means that 60 to 65% don’t think it should be available.
60 to 65% vs 20 to 25% seems like a pretty big spread. Even if you add in the special circumstances, it doesn’t seem to match the 60 to 65% figures.
As you state, the same number that backs the Obama/Clinton mold and their every stupid idea.
I think that there is a major case of low information among the 60%.
Point being, that the republicans could work this, but then what would they fight about at election time, and where would the anti abortion money go to.
THe answers are easy to anyone who earns their money, but these guys don’t do anything close to what their job description states.
But they could work abortion - get rid of it. They choose not to.
No reports out on the fundraising efforts of the GOP. They are nasty when they call here. And this is a red state
I agree with your general position that abortion could be done away with, or at the very least made extremely rare if the Republicans stood up.
Lets face it, we don’t have stand up people any longer.
WE have stand up people. THey do need leadership at the moment. and that is someone willing to be very unpopular, like hiding his family unpopular, and who knows the job and the constitution inside and out.
So, this is what this great Republican leader chooses to talk about less than a week before a critical election?
I’d like to think so at least.
