Imagine being told you are going to die in a month. Then it's a few hours. Then another month. You may be set free or you may be killed, and it all depends on events that are completely out of your control. How long could you stand it?

Me, I would welcome solitary for a few weeks as that is the best time for communing with our Father.
What happens to an inmate's soul is between him and his maker. However, his punishment in this life is not being meted out by God. He is being punished for transgressions against the state. If he accepts Christ in prison while waiting for his date with the needle/hangman/Ole Sparky, that's great.
If I were a murderer on death row who found Christ, I would find death a release from this vale of tears and would welcome it.
90% or more of inmates (especially death row) are masters of manipulation. They can make you think they have sorrow, remorse, affect, hunger pangs, you name it. Only the Lord knows their heart, we can know their culpability of a crime.
Give them something to do. Digging graves, starting with their own.
apparently decades
Taxpayers suffer incredible “stress.” How come they’re not given a recognized Disorder?
In California, you’ll never get executed.
Oh, my. Murderers are suffering.
Yeah. My heart bleeds.
Bzzzzzz! Wrong answer
In fact, I think it should be expanded to some other crimes.
“If he accepts Christ in prison while waiting for his date with the needle/hangman/Ole Sparky, that’s great.”
This is why I am against the death penalty. I don’t mean to leave them off the hook for being responsible for what they have done. I do mean to guide them to reconcile their soul with God. I’m pro life on both ends of the spectrum of life.
I find the comedy routine about if you want to find God you must go to prison as everyone finds God in prison, very funny. It is evident that satan has entered the prison religion forum.
Yes. And if they’re now right with God, all the better for them.
Ding ding ding! It’s the extended wait that’s the killer. Get it over with within one calendar year. No more appeals, no more stays, if you’re still guilty after 365 days, you’ve got a date with a gurney.
I’ve encountered the same thing while working with a Vietnam vet who was a sniper. He din’t speak Vietnamese, but the spirit in him spoke it fluently through him when prompted.
The Bible is far more accurate on this subject than most realize.
This sounds a lot like life.
Yes, they should.
And you should consider a change of medication.
Not for me.
I say, raise the bar for conviction, have a mandatory appeals court review the trial immediately afterward and execute them within 30 days.
Publically.
If they tortured their victims then crucify them.
You know what - human justice is not perfect. You just have to accept that. And in that context - punishment must be sufficiently severe to dissuade crime. We all so want to be ‘compassionate’ that we are letting the crime cancer consume millions of innocents and entire communities every year. It is misplaced compassion.
I am however against the country club environment in many of our prisons. Disconnect the tv sets. Get rid of the internet. The old prisons had farms and were self sustainable. Now prisoners are just parasites on the taxpayers.
I'd like to see THOSE hard facts....
One of the main arguments against capital punishment is the cost passed on to taxpayers for supporting the legal defense of these murderers........literally millions of dollars
If suicide is indeed a problem then it's saving us money.......
As for "losing their minds", those were lost long ago..........
