Jeb Bush is "moving forward" on a potential 2016 White House run and it appears more likely he'll enter the Republican race. That's the opinion of his son, who's running for office in Texas.
George P. Bush tells ABC's "This Week" that his father is "still assessing" a presidential bid, but it seems more likely he'll seek the presidency this time. The former Florida governor declined to run for president in 2012 despite encouragement from Republicans.

Tribe apparently trumps all, we've seen that with both black and hispanic Republicans. Don't be surprised if you see it again with others, imho. If others regard my interests as somehow tribal also, so be it. I want my interests represented, and mine are in the majority among conservatives. It's too bad that it might come down to this, but recent years have highlighted a few rifts that are not insignificant.
It’s worse than most folks think. Clinton got his 2nd term because H.W. wanted the WH for George W., and he couldn’t get it if a republican won in ‘96, so the old man controlled the process and gave us Dole, a two-time loser who couldn’t carry the base. Just to make sure, H. Ross went negative in ‘96, and got just enough votes to deny a republican win. They did it again in ‘08 with McCain, and when it looked like John might actually make the grade, they sent Hank Paulson to Pelosi for cash for his friends, making a big media splash and making absolutely certain that the economy would tank, and that republicans would get the blame. When pressure was building to get rid of O, they gave us a Massachusetts liberal to head America’s conservative party, and just to be sure of a loss, made sure that the Evangelicals knew he was a Mormon. Old man Bush and his sons have been controlling the Republican Presidential nomination process since the late 1980’s, and would rather lose every election from now until doomsday than let an actual conservative republican win the nomination. In fact, they would actively destroy the nomination of any republican candidate that they do not control. They represent the moderate wing of the democrat party, nothing more. The Bush family is solely responsible for every act of violence to the US Constitution since the 1980’s. If they are not stopped, America as a country, or what’s left of it, will be gone in less than a decade. Nothing is more important than stopping them, NOW!!!!
I think the dnc would be happy to see a jeb bush candidacy.
As opposed to whom? Buchanan? Forbes? Alexander? Dornan? Gramm? Keyes? Lugar? Specter? Wilson? Morry Taylor?
I could go on -- Colin Powell, two different Bakers, Bill Bennett, etc., etc. -- but sometimes the candidates just aren't there.
Most of the time the candidates who could win and be credible Presidents just aren't there.
Consider for a minute: Dole ran against Bush in 1988. They weren't friends. They really didn't like each other, and they weren't in the habit of doing each other favors.
When pressure was building to get rid of O, they gave us a Massachusetts liberal to head Americas conservative party, and just to be sure of a loss, made sure that the Evangelicals knew he was a Mormon.
The Bushes did that? How? Telepathy?
Romney got the nomination in the same way McCain did four years before. He got more votes.
I cannot tell you how disappointing that was when he signed on to that stupid, terrible bill, as he was and is, on virtually every other issue, very articulate and able to explain conservative principles in a simple and understandable way - somewhat Reaganesque, and speaks the language so he could teach Hispanics why our views are best instead of just talking point propaganda. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgstcnH2H1E
Bob Dole might not have been a two-termer anyway. To suggest that Dole didn’t actually want to win that race is absurd. It’s also not like Bush couldn’t have run in 2004 - he would have still been governor of Texas most likely.
This whole Mormon thing is just spin to make the majority of social conservatives look like the reason for Romney’s loss when in fact evangelicals voted in higher percentage and even absolute numbers for him than for McCain.
Mormons are as a group socially conservative, regardless of what one might think of their underlying theology. If Romney had been in the least like the majority of his fellow Mormons in this regard he would have been a stronger candidate in the eyes of social conservatives on the whole.
As it stood, nominating the one Republican candidate who advocated government-run healthcare was very constraining, as was the fact that Romney could have and was fairly easily tarred via Bain Capital with being somehow associated with the ongoing financial crisis.
Would he have been better than Obama? No doubt, but that is a very low bar. That could be said of virtually anyone to the right of Che Guevara.
It’s also too easy to dismiss it all as being the result of Romney winning a fair primary election. Some of us do recall the shenanigans in Virginia and elsewhere that led to Romney victory in state primaries. It wasn’t all the result of an unbiased process.
The GOP is full bent on destroying itself and America.
They did it by controlling the nomination process, which is exactly the point. They apply money at just the right moment, like in Arizona against Buchanan in ‘96, after he won the New Hampshire primary. They are liberals, no matter what anyone thinks, and will not let a conservative win. They will throw the race to a democrat, rather than let anyone they don’t control win. You can scoff at what I say, but I don’t think you understand the nomination process, or how it’s controlled. It’s an easy thing to understand, unless of course, you’re one of them.
No matter how far forward Jeb leans, He won’t cross the finish line. He should save his energy.
WTF?
I for one am totally surprised that the GOPe is again dragging a political corpse to the elections.
Oh, stop with the vulgar pretense.
Get out da Bush’s.
They belong to the Saudis and the Mexican cartels.
Enough of this family.
The Bushes own millions worth in oil companies in Bahrain...Daddy Bush is a major member of the Carlyle group along with the Saudi Royal Family...
Little Jeb refused to let American oil companies drill off the coast of Florida while Cuba allowed the Chinese to do it instead...
All the Bushes are New World Order, One World Globalists whose only interest is power and money...
Hey Jeb, assess this
Saw George Bush on the ballot, and had to tap the screen for the Libertarian. Couldn’t force myself to vote Dem or Green. Had to exercise the same option when it came to Corny. So I can honestly say I voted split ticket this year. I don’t expect it to have any impact on the results.
Barf Alert!
DO.
NOT.
WANT.
