The Obama administration is considering imposing a forced quarantine on healthcare workers who return to the United States from the Ebola hot zone of West Africa, after a New York doctor who treated patients there tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spokesman Tom Skinner told Reuters on Friday that a mandatory quarantine is one possible plan under discussion by officials from across the administration.
'There are a number of options being discussed pertaining to the monitoring and mobility of healthcare workers who are returning to the United States from affected countries,' Skinner said.

I hope our troops are given protective gear that will protect them from ebola.....Zero is unbelievable in sending them to that place.
There are some radical thinkers out there, just how did the underwear bomber expect to use his 72 virgins (sarc)
You know who I'm talking about.
It's not this...
The disease will burn itself out in the stricken (epidemic) countries.
It shows no signs of doing that.
Not on the INFECUALTED flying to spread it here!
Thank you Dear Leader Jarrett!
It is cheaper to prevent them from flying here, than letting them come and then caring for them here, ebola or not, for three weeks.
Soooo stuuuuupid. Even if they did quarantine all health care workers, what about just citizens of Liberia etc? As long as you’re not a health care worker, you and your Ebola can stroll through town, party in our bars, puke in our bathrooms, until you get up to that 103 fever.
If this is true, it’s totally hilarious as Obama is simply reacting to what NY & NJ govs did a couple of hours ago.
I’ve just finished posting the following in nearly a 100 news articles across the web, and looks like some of my prognostications have already come true:
“I’ve been telling people for quite a while now that if/when Ebola hit either D.C. or New York City, the rules would suddenly change. And now it has and now they have.
Cuomo’s and Cristy’s super rapid bipartisan no BS Ebola-stopping policy of “we’re quarantining them all” is interesting on a number of fronts:
1. It means these two governors realize how serious this situation is, even if that fool Obama doesn’t. These two know that a few more cases like the current one will grind their big cities to a halt.
2. These two are also daring Obama to come after them. Ordinarily, Obama would have his DOJ sue any other governor for usurping federal authority; he’s done that repeatedly to the southern border states. But Obama’s going to have a REALLY tough time against these two who are in bipartisan league. Not to mention, the country is going to come down REALLY firmly on the side of these two governors and REALLY firmly against Obama. Congressional partisanship has also mostly been rendered moot by their bipartisan action as well.
3. Unless the three other designated Ebola-entry airports take the same measures as New York and New Jersey, then all West African traffic will shift to those three airports, thereby keeping it out of of NY and NJ. So these two governors have set up a win-win situation for themselves and their states: either the other three airports institute their policies, meaning the two governors have performed the national policy leadership that Obama refuses to exercise, OR all of the Ebola traffic shifts out of their two states. If that’s not a stroke of genius, I don’t know what is.
4. Obama has now been totally bypassed and essentially rendered irrelevant on the Ebola issue.
5. Most of the “Progressives” that have been railing against quarantines by viciously attacking anyone calling for such measures will suddenly start supporting the quarantine position (”We’ve ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia”).
Basically, what these two governors have done is a game-changer at the national level.
I just read about it too and thankfully everyone at long last realizes just how worthless Washington really is and are acting on their own initiative.
I’ve grown quite sick of “officials”.
All worthless.
As are dignitaries, experts, and important people.
I think the governors are afraid of getting lynched by the citizenry.
“I think the governors are afraid of getting lynched by the citizenry.”
I never thought about it that way, but you may very well be correct. Fear of the voters is a powerful motivator for recalcitrant elected officials. Plus, both governors have higher ambitions, so this makes them look action-oriented and decisive, especially when compared to that blithering, dithering idiot Obama.
Nonetheless, they checkmated Obama on the Ebola chessboard: after the dynamic duos’ fait accompli, the feds have just now started talking about instituting the exact same quarantine at the federal level. Basically, someone in the Obama administration figured out my analysis was dead bang on. Talk about leading from behind!

Yeah; we talk about how dumb and passive American are, but I never believed it. Americans are now more galvanized and energetic and I do believe that the minute NY was alerted, the governor of Jersey and mainly NY had visions of a citizenry marching on the mansion of the governor and either ordering a full impeachment or literally dragging the entire Gubernatorial family out and frogmarching them to a spot where they would be tarred and feathered.
People in New York are not passive types and are fully aware of the reality of a full blown epidemic, what it would do to the entire population and business environment. Also, right now history is being made and no governor or politician wants to go down in history as a man who was in charge and failed to do the right thing.
“Also, right now history is being made and no governor or politician wants to go down in history as a man who was in charge and failed to do the right thing.
Uh, except of course that fool Obama who’s apparently drive exclusively by ideology.
I wouldn’t call Obama a politician; he’s created a new class of failure all his own.
