It will probably upload their status to the officer’s Facebook page and he will have to get a “like” from his supervisor before it will fire.
It seems to me that the risk of electronics fouling up outweighs the risk of an officer having his gun taken from his holster. That yoyo in Missouri was unsuccessful, primarily because there are safety mechanisms in holsters that make it fairly difficult to pull the weapon out from the wrong angle.
Another cure looking for a disease. Only in California...
Some contractor probably got paid millions for this idea.+
Is “knowing when an officer fires his gun” EVER an issue?
Need a quick phone app to spoof whatever signal these things send. If the system is swamped with fake signals it will be unworkable. Cloward-Piven, baby!
I don’t have a problem with police having something on their holsters which signals HQ when the pistol comes out. When a cop is in a firefight, he may not have time to call for backup — this thing would do it for him.
The cops will just turn it off,, just like the cameras..
Will it sense when they kill a family dog?
Heck, integrate live streaming video feed from the sight.
You have it right. Most others seem to not get it and are hung up on whether this is good or bad for cops. All electronic firearm stuff is bad for freedom. When the 'internet of things' encompasses the tools of freedom there will no longer be freedom. Companies that push this stuff should be shamed and boycotted out of business.

I want a phone app that lets ME fire cops’ guns for them. It would make those lonely patrols so much more interesting.
So, what size is the battery that’s required for this to operate?
