A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the citys first diagnosed case.
The doctor, Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday and placed in isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone he might have come into contact with in recent days. A further test will be conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control to confirm the initial test.
While officials have said they expected isolated cases of the disease to arrive in New York eventually, and had been preparing for this moment for months, the first case highlighted the challenges surrounding containment of the virus, especially in a crowded metropolis.

That would work and makes perfect sense. For those 2 reasons, our government will not do it.
Not even close.
Consider this thing is like a wild fire. It is burning out of control in West Africa. Every day people leave that area. They like embers floating on the wind. They are going to land wherever that wind is going to take it.
We are not even close to this being under control.
kudos for always having the right graphic for the post at hand.
Another reason I hate to go Ebowling.
Probably because he already knew.

Bowling for Obola to Brooklyn in an Uber (car).
Yet another entry in this year's 'Famous Last Words' competition.
They did not know he had used their bowling alley under CNN contacted them for a comment.
I realize you’re joking. But there are noted behavioral abnormalities in ebola patients. I wonder if the urge to be social is one way it spreads itself. Hmmm
Given those 'in charge' of this CF, would you trust your childrens' proximity to that diagnosis ?
(Thanks!)
There was a case taken to Emory, but they would not release his/her name, because that person wanted privacy. I believe it was a healthcare worker returned from Africa.
So do I. Don't think he'll get off the hook for his dumb behavior like the earlier ones did, though.
Isn't there a disease or parasite that infects mice and then destroys their instinctive fear of cats, the preferred host of the thing in question? So it's not unheard of here on God's green erf.
Hospital employees and other health care workers should demand a room on hospital grounds, or a safe place to stay when returning to this country from W Africa , so they would not contaminate their homes.
i collect antiques, and I would rather live in the street for 21 days rather than risk my collection, and my dogs, being destroyed. I would not want to go near my husband during that time period.
I also think a 21 day quarantine should be mandatory for health care workers returning from W Africa.
"(Reuters) - There have been eight cases of Ebola seen in the United States since the beginning of August. A Liberian man who died Oct. 8 in a Dallas, Texas hospital was the first person diagnosed with the virus on U.S. soil.

4. Ashoka Mukpo
5. Unidentified HCW released from Emory
6. Nancy Writebol
7. Dr. Kent Brantly
8. Dr. Rick Sacra
Today: #9 Dr. Craig Spencer
Why are these people allowed to come back??? Why aren’t they kept in place?
In that case, we're all dead. Ebola will outsmart everyone, especially the social media generation.
Toxoplasmosis.
