A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the citys first diagnosed case.
The doctor, Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday and placed in isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone he might have come into contact with in recent days. A further test will be conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control to confirm the initial test.
While officials have said they expected isolated cases of the disease to arrive in New York eventually, and had been preparing for this moment for months, the first case highlighted the challenges surrounding containment of the virus, especially in a crowded metropolis.

Well, Obama finally got the second index case he wanted. I wonder how many this guy was in contact with in the last 10 days? Will this be the index case that lights the fire?
Patients infected with the Ebola virus are contagious as soon as they start exhibiting symptoms. The farther into the disease they go, the more contagious they become. This doctor would have had a low-grade fever, nausea, other digestive symptoms, headache, body aches and joint pain early on. The problem is these early symptoms can mimic other non-life threatening diseases. Given where this fellow had been, he should have quarrantined himself and been on the lookout for possible development of Ebola symptoms. His own arrogance may have killed him and infected countless other New Yorkers.
*laughing * the ridiculousness!!
“Have they nipped this thing in the bud yet or not? “
It’s not going to get “nipped” as long as Obama keeps allowing fresh patient zero cases into the U.S. Sooner or later one of those is going to light the fire.
There was a doctor on CNN that said that doctors from infected areas should not quarantine themselves because during the three incubation period they had a right to make a living.
What about the right to make a living for the owner of the bowling alley. They are closed down and may have trouble sustaining a business.
I think it is the God complex some doctors have. They are above it all.
Maybe the man who climbed the fence at the White House had ebola and infected the 2 dogs.Sounds crazy but what if.
I was reading an article stating 16 members of Doctors Without Borders had been infected with Ebola, 9 having died from it.
Doctors Without Borders = Ebola Without Borders.
Is not airborne. You just have to filter particulate. Essentially airborne snot. Ebola does not cause sneezing like the flu or colds.

Explain why this works if you are right on this.
If Ebola isn’t airborne then how did this doctor contract it? And other doctors who covered up well and who contracted it just as well and died, how did they get it?
Doctors who are over there and covered up like that are still contracting it and dying.
All professions have their idiots. Medicine is no exception.
I thought Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins was a piece of work. He seems almost semi-human compared to Commie Cuomo. And that New York mayor? Although New Yorkers are mostly hard leftists, the only way he was elected had to be through fraud.
Look, I utterly hate the 'RATs that infest us here in Texas but as horrendous as they are -- and they are -- the 'RATs of the Empire State are magnitudes worse.
Hate to have to say it. The doctors who got it made a mistake in protocol. They are like this hipster or the do gooder that luckily recovered. I feel for them both but unicorns do not fly out of asses in an Ebola ward. Death does.
Dealing with multiple sick patients I personally wouldn’t even trust that. It is decon. The secret to beating Ebola is decontamination. 10% bleach water. 10 minute soak. Log10+ kill.
