Patient in New York City Tests Positive for Ebola
NY Times ^

A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the citys first diagnosed case.
The doctor, Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday and placed in isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone he might have come into contact with in recent days. A further test will be conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control to confirm the initial test.
While officials have said they expected isolated cases of the disease to arrive in New York eventually, and had been preparing for this moment for months, the first case highlighted the challenges surrounding containment of the virus, especially in a crowded metropolis.

What a LIB idiot. Shouldn't he have been quarantined outside the US? The fool comes to NYC, goes bowling and takes public transportation. The idiot should have his DR’s license yanked.

Apparently he wasn’t following protocol if he got infected. So much for medical expertise.

“They should run an airline for medical personnel, mission workers etc. only coming out of the hot zones, isolate them on landing until theyre cleared.”
No airline needed, just charter flights operating under non airline regulations for commercial flight.
Bill Gates could make it happen tomorrow. He is heavily involved in 3rd world health-care, and he has the resources to “get it off the ground”.
It doesn’t have to be all for free, clients would pay to get their people there and back safely. The one charter company flying the ebola evac plane back and forth are making huge money off of it.

Apparently the asymptomatic are not a problem, except for the people who have it and show no symptoms or the rare breed who have a natural immunity to it (but still act as carriers).
The screening procedures are bunk. QUARANTINE.

It is true that the first symptom of ebola is the overwhelming urge to use public transportation.... a craving for a slice of New York pizza...

Maybe the victims are worried that they are going to die within a week and want one final fling on the town/see family, etc.

Lord King Barack would not have grounded the flights after 9-11-2001. Too harmful to certain businesses.

Wow, Kelly is on fire about this. The NBC people got hammered for breaking quarantine when not showing symptoms, but this [clown] was out bowling, she sez.

Gov Cuome is saying Dr Ebola took all precautions and avoided people. I suppose the dozens or hundreds of people he came into contact with on the subway and the bowling alley will take comfort from Cuomo’s calming words.

Cuomo says 4 people. Not counting the folks who put on the bowling shoes or used the bowling ball, right?
