I grew up in a house where the front door locked with an old fashion skeleton key.
They were for sale to anyone at the Five and Dime store for 10 cents.
But we never locked the door anyway.
Most of the time Mom and Dad didn’t even know where the key was located.
Now I keep my 12 gauge pump next to the front door.
If a suspicious person is at the door I rack it and watch their faces through the little door viewer.
Most don’t know what the noise signifies and just keep yakking.
But some recognize the sound and they quickly hightail it out of there when they hear it.
They look like two Blacks and one Hispanic tho one of the Blacks might also be Hispanic.
