When ISIS militants publicly beheaded a Shaitat man who had fired on one of their patrols, local residents overpowered the small garrison of terrorist fighters and forced them from the town, only to see them return with reinforcements and artillery from Mosul.
After shelling Abu Hamam for days, ISIS forces once again captured the town and began systematically executing every Shaitat male over the age of 15.

Never let the bad guys leave, they can just regroup.
Let that be a lesson for whoever is going to fight ISIS.
Taking POWs is no option.
Systematically executing every Shaitat male over the age of 15. Without due process, innocents slaughtered. And Obama thinks water torture at Guantanamo is evil. Upside down world at the White House. Obama wants to befriend evil while it runs rampant, what an a**.
Correct me if I'm wrong, bu isn't the Washington comPost one of the "media outlets" who provided "little to no coverage" of the atrocities?
Minor point.
The west lost the stomach for that centuries ago.
A photo essay on an Islamic State blog boasted of the different ways tribesmen were killed, including beheadings, mass shootings and a crucifixion, the Post reports. A video shows how the militants lined up scores of captives on a road, their hands bound, then set about clumsily decapitating them, one by one.
I’m sure the women and children are not doing much better.
:(
Actually I am VERY suprised that they left anyone alive.
The only thing they didn’t do was pour salt on their fields.
Yeah, I guess an occupying force is not really as bad as a slaughtering force.
When a people become too civilized to do what's necessary to survive in an uncivilized world, they won't survive, and who can be surprised at that.
This town is worth saving. They are willing to have themselves killed to fight these guys. That is worth helping, compared to parts of Iraq where the men run like little kitties.
It'll come back, just takes a little time...
It was not part of their blood, It came to them very late, With long arrears to make good, When the Saxon began to hate.
They were not easily moved, They were icy -- willing to wait Till every count should be proved, Ere the Saxon began to hate.
Their voices were even and low. Their eyes were level and straight. There was neither sign nor show When the Saxon began to hate.
It was not preached to the crowd. It was not taught by the state. No man spoke it aloud When the Saxon began to hate.
It was not suddently bred. It will not swiftly abate. Through the chilled years ahead, When Time shall count from the date That the Saxon began to hate.
We fought like that in World War I & II.
You can turn ANYTHING into a weapon to get ISIS guns, and then unload on those parasites.
People just need to over their fears.... This is because in reality..., there really is no choice.
It's a skill we'll have to re-learn.
No Quarter.
Just like Garthe [whatever] and his termites in TWD.
