Nigeria has been declared officially free of Ebola after six weeks with no new cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.
WHO representative Rui Gama Vaz, speaking in the capital Abuja, said it was a "spectacular success story".
Nigeria won praise for its swift response after a Liberian diplomat brought the disease there in July.
The outbreak has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa, mostly in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.
An estimated 70% of those infected have died in those countries. The WHO officially declared Senegal Ebola-free on Friday.
Meanwhile, European Union foreign ministers are meeting in Luxembourg to discuss how to strengthen their response to the threat posed by Ebola.
Speaking on the sidelines, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said he expected the meeting to appoint a co-ordinator to galvanise the EU's response to the epidemic.
"My colleagues are unanimous in saying that this idea of a European co-ordinator for the fight against Ebola is a good idea. The name will be chosen in the coming days. I think it's a very important step." European countries have committed more than 500m euros (£400m; $600m) but the UK is pressing to double that amount.
The money is being sought to help reinforce over-stretched healthcare systems in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and to mitigate the damage Ebola is doing to their economies.
Earlier, the Spanish government said a nurse who became the first person to contract Ebola outside West Africa had tested negative for the virus.

Nigeria (and by extension WHO) has motive to lie.
On the other hand, Nigeria is VERY connected to the internet, so the odds something like an ongoing outbreak wouldn’t bubble to the surface is small.
Let’s cross our fingers for now.
Nigeria bet ebola by closing its borders to people form ebola stricken countries and instituting a strict quarantine of all people exposed to the virus. But Obama’s sycophant at the CDC says it won’t work here.
I got it first hand from a Nigerian prince who is transferring $10,000,000 into my bank account that this is true!
Tomorrow, Obama will declare the U.S. “...free of Ebola.”
And how did they do it? With Border controls. Something our crummy Obama government won’t consider.

Nigeria especially has some remote areas, who knows what goes on out there.
The man who died after vomiting on the plane was from Nigeria.
So, overall, I am inclined to believe the article but hold out to observe if there should be any developments.
What border controls?
I’m pretty certain Nigeria ‘defeated’ Ebola through CONTAINMENT.
So western nations are going to follow this example?
Nigeria did the most important but “unsophisticated” things right, and quickly (1) finding everyone who had contact with someone who had become ill from Ebola, (2) getting those contacted to quarantine themselves, (3) making regular at home checkups on everyone on the lists to see who developed symptoms related to an active Ebola infection. They did not wait for unknown contacts to self-identify, walking publicly into a clinic, after they became ill.
By identify as much as possible all contacts and getting additional contacts by them limited to zero or a minimum, until an active infection was ruled out, they limited the spread.
Has the CDC and the U.S. hospitals done the same? Do they have a “chain of contact” list for everyone the Ebola victims here came into contact with, and everyone those contacts have come into contact with, and are they being asked to quarantine themselves, and are they checking up on them; or are they waiting for those on a chain of contact list they have not made, to identify themselves by walking into a clinic for treatment.

Nigeria took measures to contain the virus before it got out of hand. Other West Africa countries are not so fortunate.
So does America. I'm staying away from Alaskans (1) because Alaska is remote and (2) because it starts with the same letter -- A! -- as Africa.

Nigeria initially banned flights from countries with Ebola but relaxed the restriction once it felt that airlines were competent to take travelers' temperatures and follow other measures to prevent people with Ebola from flying.
Nigeria has teams taking the temperature of travelers at airports and seaports.
So they initially banned travellers, but then backed off and just screened them.
