Update: The top Democratic draft committee, Ready for Hillary, didn't come close to raising the $3.3 million announced by the Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, according to the pro-Clinton group.
Ready for Hillary declared late Wednesday that it added $2 million to their war chest in the past quarter, $1.3 million less than the Carson take.
The Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, which has been urging the celebrated doctor and Obamacare critic to run, on Tuesday said it has surpassed $10 million in donations. And at least one news outlet reports that he is on the verge of announcing.
The great success of the draft effort is a testament to our belief that it is Dr. Carson who is best equipped to heal our country, said committee campaign director Vernon Robinson.
The committee Tuesday morning released fundraising totals and said it collected $3.3 million in the third quarter of 2014. Overall, they have received money from 100,000 donors, and claim a volunteer base of over 20,000

Perhaps traditional Democrat donor whales have finally taken sense of themselves and figured out she and hubby are nothing but a couple of useless grifters.
You can already see where she’s faltering in her non-campaign by having to put it out there that she thinks these unaccompanied illegal immigrant children will have to go back to their countries. Just to get the votes of that part of the liberal leaning electorate who think that unchecked illegal immigration isn’t a good think.
The difference being that Clinton may well be a presidential nominee while Carson never will be.
This is a repeat of previous GOP presidential fields. Love a candidate who is a very long shot, donate money, then refuse to vote for anyone else when he lquits or isn’t chosen. Much as I admire Dr. Carson, he shouldn’t be in the race but he would be great pick for the GOP President’s cabinet
Glad to see large fundraising vis-a-vis Clinton but seems a bit wasteful to spend it on Ben Carson. He might be a nice guy and all but he has, in my opinion, absolutely zero chance of becoming president. A waste of money. He has no relevant experience—well, maybe more than the current occupant—but is otherwise uninspiring in the experience category.
How about we find someone with credible leadership experience? And no, I’m not sure yet who that might be. A governor, large corporate owner, someone who has proven experience. Where are the conservative alternatives to folks like Huckabee, Romney, etc. that have the experience credibility to bring to the table?
And yes, I’ll get trashed he, but I hope “we” as a collective can do a bit better than the 5-minute wonders we saw in the last campaign. Almost every week there was a new favorite, who promptly crashed-and-burned. Usually spectacularly and embarrassingly.
Waiting and looking...
No fair, Moonmad27!
I was going to say that, word for word.
Actually, I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in him. I certainly didn’t like some of the comments he made with respect to voting for RINOs because of the alternative of electing Democrats to continue what they are doing. I was more scorched earth in terms of voting RINOs out, frankly
I do not wholly disagree like I did before, but I also believe that tenet has to be applied on a carefully considered case-by-case basis.
Lastly, we’ll see how this works out. But I will tell you this: If we get the majority in both House and Senate, I have very little hope that a Boehner and McConnell will do anything substantive to stop this insane madman running our government. They will be so concentrated on trying to play the numbers game fro 2016 they will not undo one single thing this madman has done.
Obviously, Dr. Carson should not be considered for this senior executive position based on his CV.
What is wrong with people who believe that his background constitutes a qualification for this office?
Dr. Carson has spent his entire life as a surgeon. I work with surgeons every day, and have the greatest respect for their skills.
But the idea that a career as a surgeon qualifies a man to be President of the United States is ridiculous.
I believe he might be soft on illegal immigration, too.
Other than Obamacare, I’m not sure we know that much about his positions.

It’s how the right constantly lose elections by trying to be cute and always fall for sentimentalism over substance.
These people know nothing of Carson other than a book and some TV appearances.
When he gets into the race and gets trounced, then they will get mad, call it a RINO plot, and then stay home.
Ben Carson as the nominee might (finally!) allow the GOP to get 10% of the black vote.
Ready for Hillary makes her sound like disaster for which one needs to be prepared. Sounds about right.
Ebola will push the Doctor forward.
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to be President, but if one volunteers...... take him up on the offer
If he garners the intelligent black vote, he can win inspite of the majority rif raff
It’s there a black female out there that gets a check in all the right boxes?
“Black” and “female” hold no sway over me...I’d vote for a Mutant Teenage Turtle if I thought they could turn this country around. But, for others in this country that believe color of skin or the candidate’s reproductive system are paramount aspects of leadership...a black female would impress them beyond words.
As long as she is conservative.
This is the strategy that always backfires for the GOP. They try a “me too” tactic and it looks obvious and desperate. The Dems have a black Senator running for president, we will make the head of the RNC black in Michael Steele, and prop up candidates like Herman Cain and future hopefuls Alan West and Ben Carson. The Dems have Hilary, we will use Michelle Bachmann. The Dems have Teddy Kennedy, we have Scott Brown... and on and on...
The Dems are pushing for illegal Amnesty, we will try a hispanic for our side to get our vote... Rubio, Cruz...
Amen to that. Even here on conservative Free Republic it seems we would prefer a career politician to what the founders had in mind.
