DALLAS, Texas The only dog in the United States currently in quarantine over Ebola fears seems to be doing well.
Bentley has been moved to a home-like atmosphere for his monitoring.
His minders, who have dubbed themselves The B Team, are taking pictures of the pup and sending out regular progress reports.
Bentley is the beloved dog of nurse Nina Pham who contracted Ebola from a patient while helping treat him at her dallas hospital.
Pham was moved to a National Institutes of Health Facility in Maryland today.
In Spain, the dog of a Spanish nurse who contracted Ebola was euthanized.
It is a move that was highly controversial since its unclear if dogs could even transmit the virus to humans.
A very cute doggie and I am glad it is doing well. I hope Nina Pham pulls through this horror.
I am glad they are taking care of her dog. It is bad enough that she is dealing with ebola. Why break her heart over her dog, too.
Cheers for Bentley. May he and his owner be happily reunited soon, disease free and ready to play.
Dogs don’t get sick from it - they just carry it. They’re like fruit bats and certain other mammals, which are full of the virus and can communicate it but are unaffected by it.
I assume they plan on testing this dog for the presence of the virus in its system. In one outbreak in Zaire, I believe it was, a few years ago, 100% of the dogs tested positive for ebola.
Of course the dog is doing well, they don’t get sick, they just carry the virus.
The dogs don’t get sick. The real question is whether they are contagious while they are dealing with the virus. I haven’t heard an answer to that yet.
Probably why they moved it. The dog is sick. Look at the vacant eyes.
What was upsetting about the dog in Spain was that it was euthanized without any bloodwork.
Here’s the other question, once they have the virus, will they forever be transmitters?
Heres the other question, once they have the virus, will they forever be transmitters?
Not to mention the vomit bucket nearby.
I see a “gloved” hand above the cage.
Sure, but the next thing you know that dog’ll be hopping on a plane to a city near you ...
He’s not sick, he’s sad. Missing Nina.
Don't take any chances, shoot the damn dog!....../s
I think that’s doubtful. If they clear the virus, it’s pretty much gone.
Of course, I’m no doctor, nor am I an immunologist.
You are correct, but when will the media report it?
