Houstons power-mad Mayor Annise Parker has backtracked on those subpoenas that she had the city issue to five city pastors, at taxpayer expense.
The mayor made the move as Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott sent a letter to Parker asking that she withdraw the subpoenas immediately.
Attorney General Greg Abbott Asks Houston City Attorney to Withdraw Subpoenas Seeking Sermons, Other Documents from Houston-area PastorsAUSTIN Attorney General Abbott today asked that the Houston City Attorney to immediately withdraw the subpoenas sent last month to several Houston-area pastors seeking sermons, notes and other information.
In his letter to the city attorney, Attorney General Abbott said, Whether you intend it to be so or not, your action is a direct assault on the religious liberty guaranteed by the First Amendment. The people of Houston and their religious leaders must be absolutely secure in the knowledge that their religious affairs are beyond the reach of the government.
well let's see, I'd say at least, well in round figures the numbers must be approaching zero?
but at least the mayor had a good reason for not including your friendly neighborhood house of head severers-it is not included in the new law that beheading is a hate crime-it's considered more like a Muslim rite of passage-especially if committed on a holiday.
Typical bullying behavior. Push and push until someone fights back, then run for cover and blame someone else.
On the other hand, if she just adjusted her jockstrap she might feel better and drop the whole thing.
Helped me a bunch back in HS ball.
Just sayin’
Lezbo too.
Whether you intend it to be so or not, your action is a direct assault on the religious liberty guaranteed “
Oh stop it! Just frikin’ stop it it!
When the hell is everyone going to give these Evil Scum the credit they are due? This was a CONCIOUS attempt to use the Force of the State to instill fear!
At the very least, this perv mayor is guilty of supoena envy.
>> Im inclined to suspect that a gay rights group volunteered to do in order to advance their agenda.
Agreed.
These pro bono lawyers that did the dirty deed should not remain nameless and faceless.
It would be interesting to counter-sue the city, and as part of the discovery process, learn their identity and their agenda.
Or maybe a freedom of information request would suffice.
>> if she just adjusted her jockstrap
lol
Good response. We know God is pushing us from imperfect towards perfection. I think part of that experience is going to include being demonized for our/my beliefs.
Muhammad is such a huge contrast to Jesus I cannot even being to document it. LOL Thanks
Because the got no clue what it says. That's some old dusty document written by a buncha rich white guys over 200 years ago. What the hell does it have to with us today?
“He said (after boasting of how broad it was) that he wouldnt have have drafted it that broadly.”
In other words he still would do it again.
We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it!
Recall her.
...until MADE to give up.
bring it on! Don’t mess with Texas
Methinks the majority of Houston will repeal this HERO ordinance discrimination laws are already in place. Forcing businesses to accommodate bathroom privileges for those despising their biology is going way too far.
I just read it below, but I ask too: Why aren’t the perverts in Houston asking the same thing if the muslims?
Scared?
We should consider ourselves still relatively free when the leftist fascists back down when the people resist.
Relative to what it’s going to be, that is.
Houston Mayor Anus Porker and her partner Fugly.
