The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the citys first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.
The citys subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented, Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.
ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious.

Fascism is here.
My answer would be a very un-pastor-like combination of strong words and rude imprecations.

Man-made plague type pandemic is in the making and all the govies are concerned about is protecting the filthy act of sodomy? I'll pray for their deceived minds to be opened to the truth. Share the truth of the Gospel with as many people as you can. More signs of the Lord's imminent return.

I wonder what the legal rationale for this is. As someone said, maybe it is an attempt to “out” people and make them subject to harassment, death threats, disruptions, and vandalism. I think a certain percentage of “pro-gay marriage” people are simply those who have been bullied into voicing approval of something they really don’t approve of.

Did homosexual marriage survive those courts?
Don’t be so certain with some of the recent rulings coming out of the SCOTUS.

What’s that red outfit the mayor is wearing? Looks like something from a sci-fi movie, a uniform from Planet X.

"Most Catholic priests dont write out sermons nor do they record them. Of course all the Council is invited to come here it on Sundays in person (and Im sure the non-Catholic Christian churches would extend the same offer)."
I went to Catholic churches for 30 years and I don't think I ever heard a sermon on homosexuality. Given what was going on behind the scenes, maybe that's no accident.

Is it OK for a pastor to tell someone to go f**k themselves? I guess it’s ok then to subpoena the pastors of black churches who are politicizing from the pulpit then, and take away tax exempt status? Why not subpoena the MOSQUES who speak against homosexuality?

I saw this comment on a post concerning the Houston mayor demanding sermon notes from local pastors: How about all Christians send a Bible to city hall in Houston with a post-it on the front cover that says, "Sermon Notes"?!

This is completely insane by the Mayor. Does she know that this is a blatant violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution in regards to both Free Speech and Freedom of Religion?

Should the courts reject it. I, personally, no longer have confidence in the courts.
