My promo about these movies in yesterdays news thread had the reviewer assignments reversed, but never mind. 1944 has been a slower year for movies than I had hoped but it makes up ground with To Have and Have Not and Laura. I hadnt thought of the former as Casablanca with minor variations, as does Crowther, but it is something to think about. Favorite line from Laura: (Detective played by Dana Andrews, asked about his love life.) A dame in Washington Heights got a fox fur off me once.
Netflix has To Have and Have Not on DVD. They dont have the other two.
