AUSTIN The Texas law requiring voters to show government-issued photo identification before casting a ballot has been struck down at least temporarily.

Dave, this Obama appointed progressive activist judge was nominated with the APPROVAL of Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn (before being considered for nomination, the usual practice is that the US Senators from the relevant state MUST NOT OBJECT). Ted Cruz, who replaced the occasional RINO Hutchison, would not have allowed this nomination to go forward in a million years.
Texas AG Abbott is appealing this CLEARLY WRONG decision to the 5th Circuit Appeals court and I’m hoping the decision is stayed since it clearly goes against recent Supreme Court decisions.
Not to get all hyperbolic, but the Loyalists also convinced themselves that if they'd just try to make the best of the status quo, things would eventually work out.
The reality however, was that a despotic oligarch had determined we were to be a vassal state, and despite a couple of bandaids, the frog was in the pot from '70-'75.
It took a Revolution to slap some reality into George's imperious skull, and tho it would be preferable to somehow avoid v2, every passing day under the Quislings' thumbs makes it less likely.
The GOPe despises us, almost as fervently as does the traitorous Left, and there's not even a whiff of hyperbole therein.
And yet .. AND YET .. knowing I traded in 3.5 decades of (R) registration for an (I) the day after the CF of 2012, the avaricious maggots STILL bombard my email inbox daily, begging for $$ to fund their complicity in my own serfdom.
Perhaps my perspective is atypical as: I'm an older fella with no kids; this ecønømy has destroyed my little shop; and there's not enough Christianity in me to eschew true hatred of the Left.
And having declared thus, it may be best that the whole thing comes crashing down in hopes of someday being rebuilt and maintained with due respect and adherence to the original genius of our Founding.
Because make no mistake: this suicidal path the GOP Quislings are cheerfully abetting IS leading what's left of this country to an inevitable implosion regardless.
“Lets not fight fellas! Lets find out who this goon is and confront him directly. ...”

The judge is female, but every bit the ACTIVIST judge who is KNOWINGLY rendering a decision which goes against very recent Supreme Court decisions saying Voter ID requirements are NOT unconstitutional.
Well, I feel like that some days, too. Sometimes, I think it’s better if the whole thing comes crashing down and then start over. But, on reflection, I realize I have no clue as to the hell on earth this would create.
I do understand that the republicans showed no backbone and no resistance. Some of them bluntly state that elections have consequences and the Pres should be allowed his choices. I get that, but it's a shame the democrats don't share the same belief.
All I was commenting on was if Romney was president, he would not have nominated this judge, so the issue of Republican squishiness would be moot. However, I am under no illusion that Romney's nominee would have been sterling, but better as a whole. Republican presidents have not done the best job of nominating judges - particularly on the Supreme Court, so yes, I see your point - this is a marginal thing.
And while my heart goes out to true Americans with kids, my deepest sadness is reserved for the precious gifts of '76 & '87 that we've squandered.
I think that every precinct can demand ID for voting because all the classes for precinct employees and judges have already been printed and signed to by everyone administering, overseeing the vote, which starts Monday morning.
There isn’t enough time to re-train every precinct in Texas to adhere to this ruling. I think an emergency overturn should be tomorrow, but if not every election worker should require ID and say they have no legal advice on how to commence the election with this ruling.
ignore the court
There isn’t enough time for re-training and re-certification of election judges because the rules for this election have already been set vis.a.vis Voter ID.
Early voting begins in 4 days, with a weekend sandwiched in.
That seems a likely result. But if the election supervisors chose to ignore the most recent ruling on the grounds that it ran counter to a plain-language precedent by a higher court, that would work fine for me, also.
It’s easiest to go with training (which everybody has to sign thesedays) and say I’m doing what I signed I was to do per my training. Those pieces of papers are legal docs, stand up in court.
They shouldn’t mention any recent legal decisions, just the legality they’re bound to when trained for this election.
This is a God-Given opportunity to observe which precincts will gleefully abandon Voter ID, and every Texas FReeper should try to vote without ID on Monday, and share their experience. I’m hoping True the Vote and King Street Patriots can spread out and observe.
It could be the photo requirement? In VA we’ve had to show ID since well before 9-11, but only this year are we required to show state- or employer- or university0issued photo ID.
We're required to show photo ID. It's been that way for as long as I've lived in CT. What precedent are these judges using to say the law discriminates?
Governors need to start telling these “judges” to go to hell - I’ll bet there are enough Texans willing to fill in as the Governors rear guard...
