Many studies show that companies with gender and ethnic diversity tend to be more creative and more profitable
The New York Times giving companies advice on how to be more profitable? That's amusing.

It’s only a problem because Asians aren’t considered diverse. The nerd high school I went to keeps suffering from the same “problem”, any demographic whose income isn’t below average doesn’t count.

Most of the liberals that I have met do not work or live near people of the Amish persuasion. They have had very little practical experience with “diversity.” That is why they are liberals.

Sounds like a perfect excuse to BRING IN MORE H1B INDIANS!!!
(I wonder how much the Silly Valley firms paid the NYT to write this....)

Many studies show that companies with gender and ethnic diversity tend to be more creative and more profitableBS. All I have ever witnessed is it becomes an HR nightmare for whites and productivity goes DOWN as more politically correct BS gets pushed by HR drones.

What a surprise. Wildly successful companies built by white and asian men. Where are the wildly successful companies built by the complaining groups and why aren't they hiring the complainers? I smell a big pile of "gibs me dat" insisting on being rewarded without making a contribution.

Yes, by all means destroy yourselves with diversity!
I don’t know why any Freeper would give a damn (unless you work for them and will then have to endure lectures and race hoodlum coworkers). I wouldn’t lose any sleep over these hyper liberal tech companies going bankrupt because they hired a truckload of incompetent feminists and some Chicago gangsters.
May the libtech shibboleth die

Ah, Karma—these leftist weenies now get to find out that payback can be a &itch.

Exactly how Asians acquired “white privilege” is never explained. Was there a secret meeting of the White Boy World Domination Society where a ruling was made? Help me out here, guys.

Diversity must not be the question; profitability is.
The companies hire those who can make a profit for them.

few are women, and even fewer are Latino or African-American. If they are qualified and want to get hired, they need to offer to work for lower wages.

Time to sell the stock of these companies then
Every place I’ve worked where they wanted to improve their ‘diversity’ encountered numerous hires that were a royal pain in the ass

Excellent idea. These firms need stronger Diversity departments. Otherwise, how would employees know when it's Black History Month or Gay Pride Month? Who would tell the CEO whether the firm has enough Hispanic cross-dressers? I don't know how they ever made any money without this vital group.
Seriously, at my old firm, this group was the biggest waste of shareholder money. They contributed nothing.

Harvard Business Review found that women quit high tech jobs at twice the rate of men. Among the most frequently cited reasons women gave for leaving, it said, were extreme pressure and a hostile culture. Yeah, organizations that value product & results over process & "group-think" tend to seem that way--don't they?

After years of playing down the problem,
After years of hiring employees based on their competence, ignoring their sex and race,
...technology companies like Google, Facebook and Apple now say theyre serious about improving the gender and ethnic diversity of their work forces...
...technology companies like Google, Facebook and Apple now say theyre serious about reducing the quality of their work forces by preferentially hiring job applicants simply because they are female or have dark skin color.

It’s possible that diversity leads to greater creativity and profitability, but when you ask how or for examples of companies that became more creative or profitable because of diversity (as opposed to say a new product or change in customer tastes or whatever) there’s never a lot clear answers.
Also, they never mention intellectual diversity...just race and national origin.
