20-year study into the effects of long-term cannabis use has demolished the argument that the drug is safe.
Cannabis is highly addictive, causes mental health problems and opens the door to hard drugs, the study found.

One would think that all that dope would mellow them out... but that's another myth.
My apologies - you've won the argument. How could I possibly respond to such a brilliant contribution? From the thread starter no less.
Just sharing information dude. Carry on with your paranoia...
I used to smoke pot — back in that decade between the sixties and the eighties. Pot is not addictive, but it is a complete waste of life if too much is smoked. These days, if you are smoking pot, you are probably slumming with trash, and not achieving what you might. It is a bad habit. But it is not addictive.
There are far worse things happening, for example, redistribution of property. I’d gladly suffer pot heads roaming the streets, if they and their allies were not consuming my property and liberty.
Let them have their lifestyle, and shoot them if they try to take yours.
I clicked it. Nice profile pic.
I'm not paranoid... d00d. Irrelevant expats who consider inanities "information" don't frighten me.
Take your immature whining to Drudge, where this article is posted, and see if he cares what a drug-pushing paranoid burnout thinks about anything. I am headed out to mail my election ballot.
Society has concluded that it will not make alcohol illegal, even though statistically causes far more societal harm than illegal drugs because, on balance, the prohibition is worse than the abuse.
We have come to the same conclusion regarding pot. A study which shows that the harm of legalizing pot is worse than the harm caused by the war against pot might be of some instruction. Otherwise, drink up or light up, the study is BS-that means besides the point.
Some people will tickle a crowd’s ears because they want to USE them. People who care are willing to say things that are unpleasant.
Yes, there is exaggeration when criticizing pot, but the intentions are good.
Our nation is going to hell in a handbasket. If all pot smokers have a superior sense of right and wrong, we wouldn’t have elected President Ebola.
Bookmark... thanks.
Speaking of evolution and pot-smokers, Francis Galton was an avid partaker of dope. He invented eugenics.
I’m afraid the pot-heads and advocates of “medical” marijuana aren’t going to like this.
The information is corroborated in many studies. And it will be corroborated in many more, as more people start to focus on marijuana research.
If prohibition failed, then the war on some drugs is an egregious failure as well. It’s pathetic that controlled substance laws designed to protect people are not applied to the deadly and addictive drugs nicotine and alcohol as well.
I guess Phillip Morris and Anheuser Busch give too much money to their congressmen to let that happen.
Perhaps the researchers were stoned?
Getting high does alter the brain. Can’t be good in excess on a daily basis.
If in this study one substituted alcohol for pot the results would be the same. IOW heavy usage of either especially when young will have bad outcomes including people becoming addicted.
Every item listed can also be said of the LEGAL use of alcohol and/or tobacco.
Keep it away from kids and prosecute those that endanger others. It is a choice for adults to make.
Let’s make your “Makers Mark” and “Marlboro”s illegal, then we can talk. What I put in my body is my concern not yours.
And don’t tell me about the cost of social dependency caused by use. Then I tell you about the generational THEFT that is taking place for all those who saved NOTHING for their “golden years”? “Why should I pay” is not an argument. If we followed the Constitution you wouldn’t have to pay.
I’m still cranky, haven’t had my “medicine” yet. A weee taste of poitin!
I’d rather have a beer with my pizza, thank you. I don’t want the carcinogenics that pot has in it, 3 times what 1 cig does.
