God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

they voted to repeal Obamacare 41 times

Yeah, because they knew it would fail. How many R's voted AGAINST funding OCare? Seems to me most the so called conservatives, after voting umpteen times to shut down OCare, didn't have an issue funding it. How best to shut it down than to vote AGAINST funding it? They voted TO FUND it, so their 41 "we know the votes won't go anywhere, so we'll vote to end it even though it won't mean a damn thing" votes AGAINST OCare were nothing more than smoke and mirrors. You GOPe types seem to like having smoke blown up your noses.

performing futile actions that they know will go nowhere so they can go “Well, we TRIIIIIED!”

Exactly right. Instead of voting over and over again to end OCare, the desire to shut down OCare should have been reflected in having ALL R's vote AGAINST funding it! Did they do that? Nope. R's falling all over themselves to fund it. Screw the R's. Screw the 'lesser of evil' logic, which really ain't no way to plan your vote.

IT IS YOUR PATRIOTIC DUTY to walk away from the GOPe. That is the one and only thing they are going to listen to. When McConnell realizes he ain't gonna be in charge...when Boner loses his 'leadership' position, then they MIGHT begin to listen.

The House actively and openly talks about “Controlling” conservatives and Tea Party.
But they fall over like a cheap hooker for Obama, repeatedly.
When the GOP stops acting like a cheap whore for their DNC masters, then I might be convinced to vote for them.
Want my vote?
EARN it!

... in spite of the hated Boehner ...

Boehner is not hated. He is just held in contempt as one of the most ineffective political leaders of all time. He is not a leader and not even a very good dictator. He inspires nothing. He has no courage. He supports elitist principles and puts his self-preservation as a politician above the interest of the nation. Even his showmanship is unconvincing, useless and transparent. Boehner stands for Boehner.

blind faith in your own belief is a losing strategy

Exactly what the Marxists, Liberals, Godless and party hacks like you would have us believe. You people keep lecturing us that Conservative principles SUCK and WILL LOSE.

Fits right in with your belief that we should not believe our own eyes, only what the Party tells us to believe.

were you to study the actions of the House in recent years, you would notice that in spite of the hated Boehner, they voted to repeal Obamacare 41 times. They made efforts to shut off the debt ceiling and on and on.

While dware perfectly shredded that tripe for what it was, I would like to add that your comment that will go down in history as infamously ridiculous and outright bullshite as this comment from His Heinous:

"Are you better off than you were four years ago?” In this case, are you better off than you were in six? And the answer is, the country is definitely better off than we were when I came into office……..[but the American people] they don’t feel it...all I’m doing is presenting the facts.” - Barrack Hussein Obama I

Why is it you party hacks flaunting the Ruling Class line sound so much like the MarxoFascist Democrats and liberals you people pretend you oppose? It is obvious what you people really oppose is Conservatives who are governed by principles.

A losing strategy I think you said.

That would appear to be an example of RINO creep, the dogmatic evolution from reality into neverland

Unstated in this discussion is the GOPc. I firmly believe that the GOPc has power in the House that will soon be manifest in the Senate as well.

The GOPc will never include Jesus Christ as a leader and thus will never be acceptable to many here.

so, rather than make the effort to look it up you choose to remain ignorant of recent history and hew the dogmatic line that is not factually sustained

Patrick Henry didn’t say, “Give me Liberty, or something close to it.”

I actually love queers. In fact, I am queer.

No wonder I could never get any traction with you.

We must hang together or surely we hang separately.

Here is my perfect-world scenario: we close in on enough Senate seats to be able to ditch McConnell and still re-take it. Then we somehow get Ohioans to ditch Boehner. I still have hope for McDaniel in MS.

In Texas (where we didn’t have any TEA come in and stump for Stockman or Stovall), Cornyn only got 59% of the primary vote.
I’d like to un-support him just enough to let him keep his seat, 51-49, to remind him that 41% of Texas Republicans want him gone.

If I knew for a fact we’d take back the Senate 52-48, I would send $ to Alison Grime’s campaign to help ditch Mitch.

But in the meantime I’m still gloating over Cantor’s defeat.

Here is my perfect-world scenario

Problem is, we don't live in a perfect world. What will happen is:

McConnell & Boehner will both be relected, and become the GOPEe "leadership". They will set the agenda. Of course, that agenda will be anti-Conservative in every possible way, but both will come out and talk about how much political capital the GOPe has now against the Tea Party, and it shows just how far right and radicalized the Tea Party really is, and that's gonna piss off a whole lot of Tea Part COnservatives, who then WILL stay home, or at least certainly vote 3rd party in 2016, and by 2020 the GOPe will have pissed off it's entire base, Democrats will be in the majority and will hold the White House for some time.

I say screw it. Rip the bandage off quickly, now, and get us to where we're headed before I'm too damn old to put up a good fight.

If the Democrat was conservative, I would vote for him too. “R” has no loyalty to me, therefore I owe none to them.

Anyone connected to that D Party is unworthy of consideration for a vote of mine.

They can vocalize their espousal of any conservative policy that exists, but that 'D' eliminates them as far as I am concerned.

You never know.. remember how quickly TEA got their game together and un-seated Cantor after the GOPe left Cuccinelli swinging in the breeze. If it LOOKS like we can afford to jettison one seat, Kentucky TEA could do the same to Turtle.

Kansas shouldn’t even be in play. If it were safe for us, we could pull a Cochran and help GOTV for Grimes, problem solved.

Boehner won 79% of the primary vote, so it would take an EXTREMELY motivated TEA effort to send him packing via the Cochran model with Brat-style coordination.

If we fight the GOPe at the last minute like they have us all year long, with their same ‘dirty’ tricks, we could ditch them but the coordination would have to start NOW.

Bert they knew this would go no where when they voted to kill it. The only way they could have affected ObamaCare was to withhold funds for the implementation of it and Boehner refused to do that. Ask Michele Bachman what happened when she tried to cut the funds.

Why do you think Boehner came out the other day with ‘I’ve never even talked to Ted Cruz’? Who was that message for?
