A geomagnetic reversal may happen sooner than expected, says this article in Scientific American.

And a lot of people have died since then, haven’t they? ;)
I also remember the first Gulf War, when Sadaam set all the oil fields ablaze - watching Nightline tell about how they would burn for years and the resulting pollution would alter the growing seasons so much that food supplies would be decimated.
“The sun might rise in the West, too. Hardly likely, but it could.”
If the field flips around the X axis, the sun will still rise in the East.
If the field flips around the Z axis, then east and west would be reversed.
I’m at over 9,000 feet elevation and have been covering up before going out. Protection from rays is already lacking on this side of the planet.
Umm, the earth’s crust does not flip. Nothing changes in association to magnetic the pole flip. It’s just the magnetic field’s orientation which reverses. There’s already an area of N magnetic in the South Atlantic near the Falkland Is.
...For great justice.
And the reason for this is too much carbon?
Damn global warming!
The biggest problem with a pole flip if renumbering all the airport runways in the world.
is
Pole reversals do happen. Between 100k and 1 million years on average.
Last one was about 750 k ago.
I don’t get what you’re saying.
Help.
It already flipped, look who is in the White House.
The good news is that a magnetic flip will reverse global warming, throwing us into an ice age. The bad news is, many creatures will go extinct.
More Si-Fi from Unscientific American.
I’m shocked!
.
SAGA the men’s magazine predicted this about 45 years ago. They had a great illustration of skyscrapers collapsing.
This is hugh, and series.
Robert Felix rebuts Scientific American article
The author says different, in refuting other scientists saying it happened 750k years ago.
He talks about excursions, which happen far more frequently (11,500 years ago with extinction of mastodons etc.:
Says it happens in conjunction with increase of volcanic activity, which appears to be the case lately!
