merican airstrikes against ISIS targets are under way in Syria, according to a Pentagon official.
"I can confirm that U.S. military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL [ISIS] terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles," Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said.
"Given that these operations are ongoing, we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time. The decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the U.S. Central Command commander under authorization granted him by the commander in chief. We will provide more details later as operationally appropriate."

CNN doesn’t have things right most of the time..I wouldn’t put any weight with them on even knowing that or not.

“Why are we attacking Syria.....What about Isis in Iraq??”
We might hurt or damage another fellow muzzie bad guy in Iraq. Also, remember that Obama has wanted to have air strikes against Assad for several years now.
Don't you recall that Putin stepped in and prevented action against Assad back then.
ISIS ***IS*** the opposition to Assad in Syria. O has has always wanted to help them since the beginning of their struggle.
Who do you think Christopher was selling/brokering arms to, and for, (out of Benghazi, Libya) when he was killed???

Time will tell.
Another way to look at it is: the established oil Sunnis and the US are taking the Shiite side in a religious war.
I don’t think that’s going to go over well in Sunni-land. They don’t really see things the way CNN does.

Okay, you’re against the military unless it will overthrow the government. You’re obviously a very unserious person or not an American who values a free country.

I’m like you. I don’t believe anything out of this administration at face value.

You seem to be one of those pro-military no-matter-what types. Many like you through history. They’re mostly in hell now.

Before we get all tangled up in syntax, let's find out whether the Syrian attacks were on ISIS...or Assad.
A whole 'nuther issue...

The ultimate goal was always to attack Syria, like obama wanted to do last year, and Putin checked him. So they set up that phony coup in Ukraine to distract the Russians, so he can continue with the Syria plan.

From
Its Not Just the Oil. The Middle East War and the Conquest of Natural Gas Reserves
(Excerpt)
... Why Syria ?
You might ask why there is so much focus on Syria right now.
Well, Syria is an integral part of the proposed 1,200km Arab Gas Pipeline:
Here are some additional graphics courtesy of Adam Curry:
So yes, regime change was planned against Syria (as well as Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan and Iran) 20 years ago.
And yes, attacking Syria weakens its close allies Iran and Russia
and indirectly China.
But Syrias central role in the Arab gas pipeline is also a key to why it is now being targeted.
Just as the Taliban was scheduled for removal after they demanded too much in return for the Unocal pipeline,
Syrias Assad is being targeted because he is not a reliable player.
Specifically, Turkey, Israel and their ally the U.S. want an assured flow of gas through Syria, and dont want a Syrian regime which is not unquestionably loyal to those 3 countries to stand in the way of the pipeline
or which demands too big a cut of the profits.
Pepe Escobar sums up what is driving current global geopolitics and war:
What youre really talking about is whats happening on the immense energy battlefield that extends from Iran to the Pacific Ocean.
Its there that the liquid war for the control of Eurasia takes place.
Yep, it all comes down to black gold and blue gold (natural gas),
hydrocarbon wealth beyond compare, and so its time to trek back to that ever-flowing wonderland
Postscript: Its not just the Neocons who have planned this strategy.
Jimmy Carters National Security Adviser helped to map out the battle plan for Eurasian petroleum resources over a decade ago,
and Obama is clearly continuing the same agenda.
Some would say that the wars are also be about forcing the world into dollars and private central banking, but thats a separate story.

No, I would support certain surgical strikes to head off really catastrophic things, like taking down the Iraq dam, or rescuing trapped Christians, or to interdict an actual terror operation against a U.S. city, etc., but to try to “defeat ISIS in the Mideast” is a waste of time.

You’re wrong. Churchill said we should have strangled the Bolshevik baby in its cradle. He tried. But war weary cynics and isolationist stopped him. Now, we need to do the same thing and stop ISIS before they create a genocidal revolution like the communists did.
