Minnesota Somali-Americans protested last week demanding pork-free food products from their welfare food bank.
Its about human rights also, basic human rights to get the proper food and also healthy food, said Imam Hassan Mohamud.
Some food shelves are trying to meet the need, but some of them already got canned beans that have already been mixed with pork and there is a literacy issue here, said community activist Fartun Weli.
With signs in hand, they marched to the Hennepin County commissioners office to ask Peter McLaughlin for help. Most live in his district and feel he can help them help themselves.
McLaughlin and the group disagree over the availability of halal or kosher food at food shelves in Minnesota.
He did say they would need to petition all county commissioners for the money to make this food shelf a reality.

AS I learned when I was a kid many years ago...”Beggars can’t be choosers.”
Tell them America was built on Pork
I respect their diet. But to place demands when you’re taking charity or handouts is really a bit too much. They also should be paying for their own food ( any seriously disabled I divi duals aside). If they’re unwilling to do even this most basic thing and all they want are free handouts and they even have the audacity to try forcing demands on those that give them freebies, then they sure as hell don’t belong in this country ( if anyone ever had any doubt?). Send them home ASAP!
Its about human rights also, basic human rights to get the proper food and also healthy food, ....

It is, indeed. So go back to Somalia and eat your stupid pork-free food there.
“Pretty soon they’ll demand we just pay them directly, like a tax.”
We’re already there; there is a massive wealth transfer in this country from “makers” to “takers”.
In my town gibsmedats are being arrested literally just walking out of Wal-Mart with flat-screen TVs without paying...
Remember the gibsmedat with a Blackberry taking the picture of the Obamas at the soup kitchen?
We’ve got the wealthiest (and heaviest) poor people on the world.
Wow—in Somalia, they do not even have food.
And they turn their nose up at free stuff?
Then do what comes naturally to you—starve.
Welcome, mister Tagert!!!!
I would like to see the cars they drive to the Food Bank.
there are flights to and from somalia every day....order food in, of leave on the next flight out....whatever.
have they ever heard of the concept of manure spreaders?????when my uncles operated LARGE farms, the manure from their cattle and HOG operations were spread on their fields to fertilize their FOOD CROPS like corn and soybeans etc.
I do remember that, lol. Our poor don’t even know what poor really is. And that’s o.k. I don’t want anyone or anything to starve. But if I were in that situation I can guarantee that I wouldn’t turn my nose up at any free food. Ya know, I hate oatmeal...but it would fill me up if need be.
There was an SNL skit many years ago that was actually funny...and tragic at the same time. A game show host is trying to explain bulimia to a third world contestant (Christina Ricci maybe?). Her amazement is so total...like I said funny but also tragic.
in one hand are bags of dried beans/rice, in the other is a one way plane ticket to Somalia. (family and friend companions fly with you free!)
your choice. (since you have me on a good day)
Yes, bulimia/anorexia are definitely “First World” problems...
Clinton State department....welfare riding 3rd world non-assimilating baby producing leeches who are living proof as to why their own country is a non-productive cesspool run by their own kind who would sell their own fellow citizen down the river for a brief profit. We have a clan of these in Lewiston, Maine. The whole area where they congregate is dead and spreading.
The blind sheik is in the medical facility at the correctional center in Butner, NC.
